Replace Cant Rail Assemblies

I recently went in for a sticking/crooked tonneau cover and a faulty outlet sensor but they are trying to tack on another apt for the cant rail replacement. Mine seem solid and I remember some of you... not being too happy with the results of that swap. Have any of you done this recently with better results? I might just pick the brains of one of the CT techs and see if I can kick the can down the road a bit.

When this happened to me, I just went into the app and deleted that item from the appointment. I like to live dangerously.

Getting the alignment correct takes skill and patience. If your SC has mastered these skills then you should have no problem.

I have an appointment in a week to check a rattle in the rear when going over bumps(might be the air compressor). They added the cantrail recall which I removed previously but this time I’m going to let them do it so I get the $300 credit. When I ordered my wrap I added an extra set for the rails. HOPEFULLY they do a decent alignment!

My cantrail was sticking out ever so slightly so I scheduled the recall service a few weeks ago when I took it in for other things. I mentioned I was worried about the dimple and alignment to the tech. He told me the dimple was just something I've got to live with and that's just how it is. But when I got it back I had no dimples and the alignment was damn near perfect.

Had mine done a couple months ago. The 1st set they installed had scratches from what I think was shipping, but the alignment was fine. 2nd set went in and alignment is fine too.

I DECLINED the cantrail replacement as mine look great and after seeing some vehicles with messed up looking replacements, I said Noooooo

When I took mine in for other fixes, they added cantrail replacement but during intake they told me they don't recommend me doing it because it's not looking good from their techs right now so they deleted it from the appointment for me. I appreciated the candor

I had it completed. I expressed alignment concerns before they began and they made sure it was good. Prior to that, I discussed cancelling that item with the service manager. If it's a recall and you refuse it, my understanding is you start assuming liability for any issues that may occur if it flies off and damages another vehicle, injures someone, or even just somehow damages your own vehicle.

The fit was great with no alignment problems or gaps.

Mine were done last month and they look great.

I did mine because they weren’t perfect, and @TESBROS gave me free replacement wraps for the rails, and Tesla gave me $300 in credit for replacing them. They did a bad job. But I expected that, I then removed them and spent an hour twisting and re aligning them and using a washer to get what I claim as “The best cant rail, alignment of any CT on the road!”

Any idea what the repair time was? They hook you guys up with loaners?

I went for service for another reason and they added the cant rail replacement. I asked if it was necessary as i was concerned more that they wouldn't install it correctly and would have worse alignment. I asked if theyd make sure to align it, they said no guarantee as it doesnt have adjustments and they said i didnt need to do it either. They checked the rails to make sure its solid and said its fine and didnt do the replacement. I'll see how it goes next years. I think some tech installers are better than others so you never know...

I went in to have the Roof Appliques installed and they did the cantrails at the same time. They gave me a loaner X and it was done the next day.
