I've asked multiple times for someone to step up and produce a replacement tailgate cap and sail panel covers in stainless. As far as I know, no one has stepped up. As a result I've commissioned a scrappy young lad who works at a commercial metal fab shop with creating such a product. I'll keep you posted on the progress. As of now he has my plastic pieces and is in the process of prototyping.... Curious as to what people think such a 3 piece product price point would be fair... American made...

Went by Jaspers shop yesterday for a couple final measurements. We talked about a few changes. Namely deleting the cover on the cross panel between the glass and tonneau to keep the flow of the black going. Instead he is going to extend the upper sail panel over that piece to give the entire sail panel a continuous look. He has refined the design of the attachment lug so that there will be only one hole per attachment point. This hole will be for a larger bolt that will secure the future stainless roof racks. He has the material in stock and hopes to have the first set done in about a week. So I’ll bug him in 2 weeks. Ha ha…

Reached out to Jasper today.. got a couple updates…

working on a multifunction bracket which can hold the sail panels down but also be used as an attachment point for a future stainless steel roof rack/ crossbar…

first he started with a 3d printed version that was ultimately gonna be machined out of solid aluminum or steel. This adds a layer of complexity so he decided to see what he could fabricate in house… I think the result is both elegant and simple.

Produced the first stainless version of the tailgate cap and upper and lower sail panels. So far only has the driver side completed. Upper sail panel will bridge over the roller tonneau cross panel to give the sail panels a continuous look. This was something we talked about at our last visit and will need a final check to prove out the concept… I probably will end up running this set on my truck as my forever version but I could see a final round of revisions based on how these fit.

Gonna be epic!

For those asking about attachment hardware he’s starting with these button head hex nuts. Not a crowd favorite, I’m sure someone here will source something better down the road, me personally, not offended….
