Delivery was 5/2 and I failed to check the wiper. Turns out it does not work at all (never has) and I opened a service request. At first Tesla was communicating as if it needed to be "checked". Then suddenly said, we won't have the part until next week we need to push your service appointment. Okay - it's been 3 weeks and it's one more week - ugh. But then the service appointment shows up for a month out, so I message them and crickets for several days.

I'm not sure how many others are having an issue with the wiper function. Seems like it may be somewhat isolated, but a known issue. My first Tesla, but is service usually this slow to both get the vehicle in and communicate? I've seen other folks getting the wiper motor replaced, I'm wondering if they are now reworking it in some way or if service is just really that backed up.

Same here, delivery was 5/8 and I didn’t run the wiper during delivery and it’s never worked. My appointment to fix is on 5/30. I’m not happy about it but am greatly consoled by having a muthafuckin cybertruck in my carport, even if I have to keep it out of the rain temporarily.
My bigger issue is that I haven’t driven it since Sunday when I ruptured my quadriceps tendon and my surgery to fix it is on 5/29

There have been a few reports of failed wiper motors, but in at least one case it was a loose fitting lol. You might be able to check it yourself just by removing the underhood apron, but you'll need to reach underneath the frunk tub where you can't see.

Exact same issue for mine, down to the dot, even the SC experience being awful. Appointment set for 5/29 with no communication, they have ignored my last 5 messages over the course of the last 2 weeks.

Thanks for this, was super easy to remove that panel. Unplugged and re-plugged last night with fingers crossed. Unfortunately, no deal - still does not show even the slightest sense of working.

I feel the same way. Super glad I have it and it’s been amazing, but dodging downpours is not fun and the level of service from Tesla is not nearly what I am used to from BMW over the past 15 years.

Hope the surgery goes well, that’s surely not great and will take some rehab.

Oh no!! Sign me up for ‘The Wiper Thread’ thread, haha!!

The ONE thing I didn‘t check on Delivery Day was the BAW (Delivery 05/30, AWD, 113xx)

Welp, this morning I was making a pancake run (local hamburger stand has some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had) and it was misting/drizzling. I got in my CT, saw the windshield was covered in mist and thought, “Awesome, I get to see the BAW in action!”

Hit the button and…nothing. I SWEAR I heard the “wha, wha, whaaaaaaaaa” sound, haha!!

Got home, checked the wired connection (solid), moved the wiper arm a bit manually “just in case that was it”, rebooted (just in case THAT was it, haha!!). Nothing.

The washer fluid sprayer works great!! The spray shoots off to the left a good five feet, haha!!

I had an existing service ticket for missing front plate screws and getting the CT-specific key cards. I’ve already heard back and they’re waiting on the key cards. I added the wiper issue to that one.

I wonder if a mobile ranger can do the wiper motor swap? In my area (SoCal), they’ve got the mobile guys doing a lot of complex jobs, and the wiper motor swap isn’t that complex. We’ll see!!

tl;dr: Wiper motor B/O. Service request pending. AWD, 113xx.

If I had this issue, in the meantime I'd get some Rain-x on the window as that will let the water just stream off in most rain.

FWIW, I recall reading some time ago the the manual says not to put any chemicals on the window, but it wasn't clear if Rain-x was included to be part of that warning. Others may have been down this path already.

Manuals are ass-covering.

But legally, to refuse warranty, they have to prove your action was:
  1. The source of the damage
  2. Not a reasonable action to take
The weird manual is an attempt (a weak one which won't hold in court for the lack of specifics) to say they've warned against the second. And most companies assume you don't know your rights on the first point.

On a separate issue, my wiper always defaults to “auto”. It has randomly turned on multiple times when facing the sun. The dry blade makes the windshield hazy and much harder to see out of. I hit the wiper icon and manually select off, but it never stays “off”. The next time I drive or the car sleeps it is back to “auto”. Anyone else notice if their car always reverts to auto?

I believe the wiper switches to Auto when you engage TACC.

I’ve used RainX with great results.

Thanks. I hadn’t made that connection. I was thinking it would be like my 3 where it would stay off when selected.
