This Truck's Steer-by-Wire Has Ruined "Normal" Steering for Me

We only have one charger at home- so this morning I went out to move our Model X out of the garage so we can charge the Cybertruck. In the 6 days since taking delivery, I've only driven the CT- and this was my first time driving a non-CT since then. My brain has already re-wired itself and driving normal cars feels impossible now! I love it! haha

It's very similar. The only difference was I was shocked at how much I had to turn the steering wheel just to make a small turn. It makes me truly appreciate how much steer-by-wire is the future of steering in all cars.

Lol, after 5 years of owning both an ICE vehicle and a Tesla, to this day when I park my Silverado, I sometimes put it in park and then just get out leaving it running. ?

Wow I am part of that club as well. Thankfully it's left outside. Wife says. Did you forget something?

Never thought my model 3 wheel would feel like a bus drivers wheel. Not wanting to even try the Suburban now. I think it will feel like I am a bus driver. Actually something I want to do. Drive that senior bus in the community a couple days a week.

Currently, my biggest worry is forgetting to use the brake. The one-pedal driving is so easy that I forget to place my foot on the brake when stopped. If I sneeze while waiting at a light, I'll plow through the next 3 cars ?‍

I get it. Drove a model 3 for an hour the other day and it took a while to recalibrate.

What I notice is not the initial wheel movement, but once the steering wheel turns more than let’s say 30degrees. The extra movement needed to turn the vehicle takes a bit to re-map.

SBW is the future. The Tesla Cybertruck was the first to market. You know the Model 2 and the next Generation Y/3 will use it.

Going from my Mazda 3 to my mom's Mazda 5 that's five years newer this happens to me.

...Mostly because it refuses to shut off with just a button press, everything has to be right for it to shut off, where mine will turn off the instant you touch the button. Even on the freeway.

That probably explains why when Teslas are stopped at a light and slammed into, they tend to roll away from where they were. The impact is a surprise and no brakes are being applied.

After watching that happen alot of Teslacam, I've been alot more attentive on the brake while the engine is engaged while driving.

100% this steer by wire is a total game changer, it is the single most impressive thing about this truck, hands down...its AMAZING!

SBW is the future. The Tesla Cybertruck was the first to market. You know the Model 2 and the next Generation Y/3 will use it.

I think this might be one of the reasons that the Model Y refresh is still a ways off. Quite possibly some larger changes than we saw with the 3. SBW, perhaps 48v. Just guessing but the Y is by far the largest volume vehicle. It's already been in limited production with the 2 castings and structural pack. The next gen Y is possibly waiting for honing and ramping the 4680 cells as well as other significant improvements.
