Speaking of E-REV, how about the new Scout Terra and Traveler, down side the E-REV version drops the towing capacity to half at about 5Klbs
Wait, they put a V-6 engine it for range while towing, but that V-6 means it can only tow 5,000 lbs?

That has to be the definition of stupid!

If FSD is so awesome, how come I hardly use it and the overall take rate is so low?

I think both trucks do great things and are for people wanting to accomplish different tasks. If towing is your priority, the Silverado is the no brainer EV truck. I like the speed and fun the Beast offers, I wouldn't want anything else. Other people want to use FSD and take it easy, AWD is great. Different strokes for different folks, choices are good.
Yeah right ... "take it easy with a Dual Motor like this?

I've got three for my business as we're phasing out gas/diesels from our fleet of 26 trucks. When driving through Minneapolis the worst of people can come out when in a CT and I didn't want to expose our employees to that so we decided to give these a shot over a year ago. All three are Trail Boss versions with rear wheel steer and the max range offered.

To sum up, it's been a good experiment and they generally work for what we need, but now that CTs are much more common place on the road and emotionally triggered people have become far and few, the next trucks to be replaced in our fleet will likely be done with CTs.

I've got some heavy opinions to boot on these trucks but below are some real world notes from my experience. After putting it in writing, I realized I really hate going to dealerships. So feel free to skip that section below if you don't want to be burdened with a tangent.

Pros and Cons List as Compared to a CT:

Cons:
  • Overpriced, roughly $18k more for something even mildly comparable to the AWD premium
  • Terrible software, each truck took me 4+ hours to setup for fleet use as well as repeated calls to GM and OnStar.
  • Info screen/OS is not organized well and not user friendly. I really don't know how they let that get in front of a consumer. For the average, not techy person, it is a nightmare.
  • Small bed
  • Range calculator is less than accurate. We've had folks rely on it and get stranded.
  • Charging on GMs platform is not user friendly and often requires an extra step on the interface or an additional app on your phone.
  • Lacks true 50amp plug for welding.
  • Weekly OnStar and SiriusXM junk letters in the mail.
  • App is only complimentary for 3 years then they will start charging. The app itself is often laggy. I'm not always a huge fan of Tesla's app because it seems buggy at times, but in comparison it's quite a step up from GM's.
  • A motor went out on one with less than 30k miles. Huge headache. At first they weren't going to warranty it. Then they did. Then they said, "since this sort of thing is new to us, GM is requiring us to do a full tear down of the area and motor so we can learn from it... It's going to take us two weeks to fix it... And no we won't provide you with a loaner or cover any rental costs". We paid for their mistake, then continued to pay for their education. Fucking joke.
  • Lacks hard tonneau cover. If you want something comparable to the CT's the only options take up even more space in a short box of a bed.
  • The dealership experience. I was able to trade in my first AWD CT, purchase/finance my current Beast all through Tesla's app in less than 20 minutes. Then go to a Tesla center, sign and drive away in less than 5 minutes. GM, nope. All three of our electric trucks were purchased at different dealerships because I kept looking for a better experience. All of which I insisted on getting paper work done via email so I didn't have to sit at a sales desk longer than needed. Ram dealers have done that for me in the past and it's been a great time saver. GM, nope. For all three, each one took over 5 hours of my time to purchase from start to finish. Every time it boggles my mind that I'm paying a company $80-$110k to force me to sit in an uncomfortable chair for the better part of a day. In the process I did meet some nice folks, but with the exception of one passionate ev guy, none of them knew anything about their electric fleet/trucks. It was a little weird in the sense that almost none of their sales team even seems to take the time to learn about their product. When test driving/comparing between the Sierra and Silverado, a GMC dealer told me to walk over to the Chevy dealer to get answers to my questions because they didn't have anyone on staff who knew anything about them. My big assuming questions: "What electric trucks on your lot have 4 wheel steer and the most range?" I walked next door to talk to the "expert". He understood my question, but had no way of entering those two metrics into their online portal to show me what was on their lot. So the two of us went for a walk, read window stickers, and compiled a list. One experience was pulling teeth just to describe a NACS supercharger plug adapter I needed to purchase with the truck. 2 sales guy, 2 parts guys, me finding the part number for them on my phone. We got it paid for and ordered. Fun fact, that truck came with one.. Rereading my own writing is painting a picture of a used car lot out in the sticks with slimy sales guys and a drawl in their speech. Nope, huge, wealthy dealerships throughout the twin cities metro.
  • The super cruise, GM's self driving, is flat out scary. I don't understand how regulators allow it on the road. Our team members are no longer allowed to use it after multiple close calls. I personally had it take me into on coming traffic in a construction zone. It was a controlled environment with no workers present and no on coming traffic at the time so I let it play out and couldn't believe it.
Pros(I tried):
  • Foldable midgate is a nice feature. However, they've never been used.
  • The 472 miles of range is great, especially when towing. We overnight charge to 85% and often times the schedule has changed overnight and people don't have time or access to up the charge to 100%. So worst case, folks are leaving the shop with 400 miles of range to tackle daily workload. In the same breath, I looked at the charging stats the other week and average daily use is only 108 miles. Seeing that, I feel like I overpaid for a feature that isn't needed and with a little education/foresight isn't needed.
  • Extra frunk space is nice.
  • Interior is just as roomy as the CT
  • The new ones appear to have a higher towing rating than CT by 1k.

My brother’s GMC has been in the shop a few times. Once for motor going out. In for a couple of months I believe. His loaner wasn’t a truck.

Dang, a couple of months would have drove me crazy. Hopefully he likes it. At the very least, I would take the high end EV Sierra or Silverado before going back to a diesel 2500. The simplicity of EV maintenance, or lack there of, is incredible.

He’s been with Tesla since the beginning. He said that he remembers their growing pains and this isn’t that different. He had the Cybertruck on a day one order, but when they told him he’d have to sign an agreement not to sell he pivoted to the Ford and then sold it and got the GMC. I only occasionally see him in the S now.

I'm actually the one who got the comma working on any truck. Comma gets all the data and when we got it working well they of course streamlined it to their liking and supported it. It works very well for lane centering. The oem adaptive cruise in combination works great for daily centering and especially towing. Experiment or whatever they calling now will stop for lights and signs but not very reliable. I have kept my 2020 Silverado because Supercruise is good but 3 years and you have to subscribe. Plus comma works everywhere not just certain places. I love my cybertruck but no centering when pulling a trailer puts me back in the stone ages. Add no pull through chargers and I'm forced to keep my diesel.

Nice I had comma 3 on my lightning before it was ready officially and it was so-so but I hear it is good now….. also had it on 2018 Escalade and it was not very good (not officially approved and had to mock it together) was wondering about how it is on gm trucks

FSD compared to my prior comma experience blows it out of the water

Here is some data for long haul drivers 1000 miles + in cyberbeast.
Most likely some time saving with a max pack Silverado EV sierra ev Escalade iq guessing probably 1.5hrs Could be more, but some manual & Supercruse driving vs. FSD.

Don’t know GM, Rivian, or GMC. Had a Tesla tried Lightning and after 5-6 High voltage failures, went back to Tesla.

Again if spending that type of money, would go with Tesla. Better long term ecosystem.

Buying new is probably best in this situation as used is holding their price and don’t want to buy someone else’s problem.

It looks like a chevy avalanche, and you'd have to deal with the GM infotainment. Hard pass. Legacy auto doesn't do in car Tech right. They never have, and likely never will.

I've got the Sierra EV, 440mi range. I've done the detailed version before, but to keep it short. It's great if you travel long distances, tow, spend long periods of time untethered to a charger, can't overnight charge, spend time in rural areas. If you don't want as much attention, also good, although I get complimented frequently on the looks. Supercruise isn't FSD, but works well for highway driving, but I don't trust it in construction zones. I just drove Texas to Mississippi with ~90% supercruise. Again, the best thing about it is that I can do what I'm doing now, which is drive to a project in a place with limited charing infrastructure for a few weeks and only have to charge maybe once a week at what's likely the one "fast" charger within a reasonable out of the way distance.

UI is comparable to top tier ICE models. It's not Tesla's UI, but It works well enough for me to where I really don't have many complaints after 20k miles of driving it. I do miss having PAAK though.

If I didn't road trip often, and was in a line of work that kept me in-town where I can charge over night, I'd have gotten the Cybertruck. GM's product just happen to be the right tool for my job.

IMO, Chevy and GMC look great and has some features that I wished my CT had. Maybe in the next version it will. However, having those features will not make me think twice about getting them over the CT. Honestly most of those features are nice to have but seldom used. Ask people who have these trucks - the gas or EV versions. When it comes to range that’s only because GM slapped on a huge battery. The efficiency on these are horrible. Far worse than CT. Then comes to towing. First of all, not too many people tow and when they do the last vehicle they will look at will be an EV. Diesel is still the king when it comes to towing. Mark my word, GM will soon follow suit with Ford and Dodge. They will cancel both of these trucks and do REVs instead.

My dad has one, the GM equivalent of PowerShare is like $20k or something crazy. Otherwise the truck is good for just a truck.
