Even after calibration, the passenger side of the tonneau cover is slightly canted versus the driver side. Sometimes it even fails to close. I have to help it by pulling aside that lags behind in order to get it to close. Service appointment is set up for the 11th of June.

I had the same issue. I took it to service and it no longer binds but I wouldn't call it straight when it closes. Always seems to close faster on the passenger side.

That doesn't sound right, it sounds like the spooling area might be mounted slightly crooked. Tesla Service will probably have to re-install it from that point to remedy.

I wonder if a crooked mounting is what caused the two tonneau covers with the migrating rubber strip seals?

Fwiw, mine also closes at slight angle and becomes straight only once it hits the tailgate.

Sometimes I have to hit the close button several times in order to get it all the way closed.

Had service apt for the 11th that was postponed to the 21st because the parts were not in. No other data in the message. So, What parts? How would they know without even looking?

They have access to your complaint as well as diagnostics from the truck. They could want to have in a new motor, weather stripping, specific tools, etc.

Mine does this as well. When closing, it will stop abruptly when it’s about 95% closed and then go back up to about 80% and stop like it was about to hit something. The left driver side also doesn’t close flush so water can get through the crack. I have a service appointment in 2.5 weeks so not too worried.

I also got a service appointment for this issue, which they fixed. Except, it kept happening anyway. Hmmph.

This is probably a software fix.

I noticed it happened once when I was stoping it frequently and not using the full open/close one touch method. Then I just did a one-touch total retract, and one-touch close and it seemed to fix itself.

So don't know... but I generally just use the full open/close method now, unless I really need to stop it halfway.

Everyone seems to have mixed results. I’m sure they’ll be making some hardware changes to improve reliability, but this really seems like a software issue. They could easily reduce the sensitivity, it’s not like you could chop carrots with this thing lol

Went in weeks ago for the repair, they changed both motors. It has been flawless since. Sometime today I lost my sail trim on the driver side. I know it's part of the recall. But, I wonder if they pulled it off to fix the tono cover and didn't replace it with new Double-Sided tape. Posting here so that if others get their tonneau cover fixed, they should check the trim pieces to make sure they are secure.

I had all the same problems described here. The tonneau would close inclined and I also got the calibration message. I went to service and had to wait for the parts for a week. They replaced the cover, but now the double sided tape started peeling and the plastic parts on both sides are loose.
Should I make another claim or replace the double sided tape myself?
My CT is parked outside and exploded to direct sunlight and hot temperatures. I think the tape they use is not good for extreme temp

I would make them do it. If it flies off and hits someone after you fixed it.....

Plus the recall.

Had my entire tonneau replaced on Monday due to it being crooked and not closing. The new one is still crooked, still doesn’t close most of the time, and now the double sided tape on both trim pieces is loose and the trim is coming up. It was not loose before this appointment.
