Great to know! Mine is very similar. How often were you stopping to charge? Having to disconnect the trailer would be a real PITA, am hoping for more drive thru superchargers. Am also hoping that with rear wheel steel and rear camera that the CT can automatically line up a ball hitch for me
I don't recall but probably every 125 miles or so almost all supercharging. I also towed this popup to Pikes Peak Hill Climb for several years and could make it up, and regen would easily get me enough when I got down. But there were definitely planned stops at campgrounds to charge overnight going around the country where supercharging wasn't an option (Plugshare, RV Parky). Seems like a lot of campgrounds stopped allowing that because of their crap infrastructure (so they claim).

Thanks for the info! My hope is that with the range extender, which gives the AWD Cybertruck (nominally) 470 miles of range, that it translates into 235 miles of (0 - 100%) range when towing a pop-up trailer at 65 mph on flat terrain in warm weather, and therefore if I leave my house with 100% charge I can go like 210 miles going from 100% to 10%, and then Supercharge back up to 80% and go another 165 miles until I'm down to 10% again. Will be curious to see charging speeds with the range extender. Will it take 45 minutes to charge from 10% back up to 80%? Longer?

If my numbers above worked out then I could cover 375 miles in a 7 hour day of driving. That could get me from OC to Yosemite, Big Sur, Mammoth Lakes, Lake Havasu, etc

Excellent information, and not surprised that lighter loads with less drag towed have less battery consumption.

I'm convinced that the high windshield of the Landmaster was causing a lot of increased drag and consumption, as the weight total didn't seem that significant.

Would be interesting to see what the wh/mi would be if there were 1500 lbs of blocks or concrete bags in the same trailer instead, keeping a low profile not adding any significant drag.

Thanks again for this useful information!

I'm in the same boat and almost pulled the trigger on the extender, but I'm waiting to see what kind of charging/charge speed things shake out of the 800V and mythical 4680 charge rate/chemical composition changes (if there are any) because I'm trying to keep a usable bed. I'm not worried about number of charges, I just plan to not be in a hurry like I was before. If it doesn't improve, I'll get the extender.

This actually happened by Out of Spec in March of 2022.

Exactly the test I had in mind, but I'd still want to see it done with the Cybertruck, especially compared with an identical test towing a high drag load like the Landmaster.

Nice test to confirm physics. Kyle's surprise at the end makes one wonder how many classes he slept through. Pretty much a similar reason that trains are so efficient at pulling loads: relatively low air resistance even though they're massively heavy. Of course the steel wheels also reduce rolling resistance.

Figure the same as the rivian, but maybe slightly less affected by the aero drag because the Tesla has worse aero to begin with.

I don't want to 'figure'. I want to 'see'

Thanks for making the chart. Yes, mine is Dual motor, I had mine in Chill mode for that towing.
Thanks. I updated the table.
