Trading reservation numbers

A friend and I want to trade reservation numbers. I will be ready to buy before he will, ( his is 114xxx and mine is 117xxx, still a long way off I assume), but I haven’t seen any information about how or whether that can be done. Does anyone know or know how I can find out?

The idea on the surface sounds great. Yet then everyone would do it. Get a reservation. Make some new friends with early RN#.

Don't see it happening is the bottom line. Could ask your buddy to let you drive his for a year. Like friends with benefits. Just different. You folks just sort it out later. Would take a trusting friend.

I had considered doing something like the one year deal. However, I don’t know why everyone would want to do it. Other than for our convenience, nobody would gain or lose by doing it.

Because someone could get a reservation now, and then buy an early reservation, and swap with that person that has the earlier reservation.

Till the car ends up totaled, and no one wants to pay. Friends don't become friends. Stuff gets messy.

Maybe help your friend swing it. He gets his. You get to ride around in it. Then yours will be here before you know it. Then it is double the fun. Like doublemint gum.

I thought about trying to swap reservation numbers with a buddy once, but honestly, it felt like it could get messy.

??. You might enjoy this story: June 27, we were traveling and my friend (about 1 million ahead of me) texted me that he had received an email saying he could order his truck! I texted my son who had a reservation about 250k behind mine. He responded that he too had received an email and had fwd it to me. Miffed that they had been notified and I hadn’t, I checked email and I had one too! Problem solved!!
The three of us decided to wait until the FS was done and save $$ when the cheaper model came out next year - or sometime.
In the discussion, my son pointed out that when the next models came out we might be kicked back to our original places in line. ?. I’m about to turn 84. Did I have the luxury of waiting perhaps another year or so to save a few K$? The next night, I decided to go for it. I will skip some pretty funny back and forth with Tesla and just say we picked up our FS Quad 7/6/24, about a year and a half earlier than I had expected. My young friend bought my Chevy 4x4 Silverado to use while he waits, and my son is waiting.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying my CT, but missing FSB, PowerShare, and wheel covers (not so much). No regrets! Ciao!
