Those two photos were taken yesterday. The guy that took them works in the same business park, sees semi's all the time and finally saw the Cybertruck and got some pics.

Why would they still be testing the older prototype ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ;)
Perhaps they are using the older prototypes now to test out use case scenarios that they have not had time to address yet. Now that they know how they will build the truck, they wanted to try out loading tires in the back to see how much of a commotion it could cause on the internet. They might just be trying to find the best way to demonstrate the Cybertruck so that it gets the most attention with the least effort. (Or they just wanted to be sure it could fit 8 tires comfortably.)

Six of one…

We’ve gone 3+ years and Tesla has managed to keep Cybertruck sightings outside of events down to a small handful. Mostly quick shots and potato cams. Now, the day after Musk talks about checking out the Beta, we have 4 different spy shots from various sources takin unsecured parts of Teslas campus.

Policy of secrecy has changed at least for the moment. Tesla doesn’t “accidentally” park or drive 2 of the most anticipated vehicles in a lot visible from the street without knowing full well it’ll get photos.

Up until now development has been in tents (get it) now it’s public show.

I took the tire measurements captured from Cyber Rodeo (316-60R/20) and along with the following assumptions:
1) 8-tires in the bed of the above size
2) Previous tire sizing is the same

I've calculated the bed to be at a minimum of 5'9"(L) X 4'1.5" (W)

Looks like there is more space width-wise and there might be some additional space front to rear. I think it even lines up well with the AR phone measurements someone took at Petersen.

Ultimately a 6'6" usable (mostly?) would be great because no other EV truck currently in production or planned is as large as CT's bed.

Anyone more knowledgeable have a more accurate figure?

You guys are still talking the skin, there is other metal under the skin, that will probably be magnetic. Neodymium would work, just like attaching magnet mounts to vehicles with aluminum skin to the metal underneath, just now it'll be a really flat piece to attach to.
If you say so. But we know the interior is aluminum, which is also non magnetic under normal conditions. But we'll see in time!

I’m pretty sure the bed length includes the yellow, partial area so two 35” tires in the vault with little play more or less maths out to 6‘ 6” total.

Could these covers possibly flip open and allow storage inside? It’d be quite narrow I guess, so maybe not.

Are those hinges for the sale planes to flip up? Sure look like those surface-flush hinges you see sometimes.

That's not really possible as the line of sight needed for the rear veiw is just over the top of the tailgate. And since the rear window slopes in a straight line to the top of the tailgate, there is no way a driver could see in that same line of sight as the plane of the rear glass.

There will be a cab window as previous prototypes had.
Oh.. Right you are, kind sir. I withdraw my question. LOL

There is a thing on the roof.

So small I can’t tell what it is, but if you watch the video, it sticks up a little bit. Maybe another rack mount?

I hope it doesn't happen lol but the reflections looked wonky in the vid. Don't those metal bed toolboxes usually have shapes that interrupt the flatness of the metal? Maybe to hide it?

Fingers crossed its not a thing but I can hear the FUDsters now, "Forget the Tesla panel gaps. Check out the CT oil canning!"
But each Cybertruck will have unique patterns of "oil canning" and will be how one distinguishes one from the other in the parking lot. Kind o like fingerprints, each one will be unique.

...what’s going on with this backend? Appears to be a big box underneath messing up departure angle clearance. I’m sure it’s fine, but curious as to why so bulky back there. Could just be the angle. Regardless…lovin it

Seems to me that the "diaper" is just a cover over the trailer hitch area

It's a feature not a bug
