Had a cooler slide in the bed over the weekend after acceleration… tailgate looks very similar and warped. Won’t close all the way

You did not warp your tailgate with a plastic cooler.

I wouldn’t have assumed so either. But it wasn’t like that before I accelerated with a fully loaded 220lb cooler (Yeti 110) and it was like it afterwards…. When I accelerated the cooler slammed into the tailgate, even my wife was like what was that.

I hear you OP! It breaks my heart to see how these click bait articles pick genuine information shared in this forum to demonize Cybertruck! Quoting you or any other forum member in public news as out of context to do a smear campaign against Cybertruck is absolutely ridiculous.

Is there anything members can do about it? Are there any legal ramifications for copy pasting information from this forum, especially quoting members, without their permission and using that for false propaganda?

@Administrator - any thoughts?
It’s a public forum. You’re posting your thoughts and experiences for public consumption. What happens after that is not in your control. You might get ridiculed on the forum; you might have somebody report on what you’re saying in a way that you don’t like.

That’s free speech.

Yeah, if the cooler started at the front of the bed, that could pack quite a wallop.
Maybe it only knocked all the slop out of the tailgate latches...

Looks like someone else tried to do the same as OP:

It's bonkers to me that anyone would try to haul decking boards unsecured, regardless of truck being used. No common sense.
. To me it looks like the person in the picture is still working to tie down their load.

OP had myself and 3 Lowes employees carefully secured with ratchet straps and several ropes. However the bouncing action of these boards is problematic in and of itself. Then if a few slide it magnifies the issue. I didn't haul anywhere near this many. These boards should be also be hauled vertical instead of laid flat.

We are not talking about owners ridiculed or messages made fun of. We are specifically talking about quoting owners name and messages outside this forum “out of context” to defame Cybertruck though that was not the intention of the original post. That was OP’s concern. Quoting someone to defame anything though the original intent was different might cause financials losses for something defamed. MSM is doing structured orchestration for defaming Tesla/Cybertruck. People can go to court for such financial losses. If you don’t believe, checkout Depp/Amber’s case. It’s just that Tesla doesn’t give a crap for these defamation articles that are not based on real facts.

Just research how many MSM articles went viral by picking forum threads or quoting owners though the owners clearly said they were happy with the purchase - rust issues, bricking problem, tailgate, recalls, off roading, list is long. I’m fully supportive of free speech, but using something out of context to defame and to create monitory loss for a Business is where the boundaries are getting crossed, IMO.

That sucks. I made a rack like this one for my HD2500 for any loads 12’ or longer . I weld so I made my own but this is a good idea for anyone wanting to hauls with the tailgate down longer loads looks like this one is 100 on Amazon. Probably pretty cheap build though. I’ve loaded thousands of pounds with the one I build and even thought a few times it was going to bend down and still mess the tailgate up but didn’t. Only difference I did with mine is instead of it going so high in the upright position I made it tail gate level to also haul with the tail gate closed if wanting to

I’m a lawyer telling you the law. It’s not defamatory to take someone’s words and imply that the product that they’re talking about sucks whether you like it or not.

Their complaint is evidence that the product sucks. Truth is a complete affirmative defense to defamation which, again, this is not.

Taking exactly what someone said and using it to make an argument about something that the “publisher” (that is, as a matter of law, the person who put it on the internet in this instance) Didn’t intend and doesn’t necessarily agree with is neither a crime, nor a tort, nor anything that hasn’t been happening since there were three people on the planet and one said something to the other about something that the other one said.

I need people to simply understand exactly what free speech is this is it. Cope.

I didn’t buy my cyberbeast according to anybody else’s approval and I’m not gonna stop liking it because somebody produces an article I don’t like.

Warning to everyone about hauling items. I was hauling a load of 12 foot composite decking boards today. I made sure that the weight limit was not exceeded, however, since the load shifted, it obviously put too much weight on the tailgate and now the tailgate is warped. Fortunately still shuts but it clearly bent the stainless steel and it now has a gap.

So caution about this possibility. Perhaps I should have known, but alas I was unaware of the potential.

Here's mine.. Accidentally backed into a tree with the gate open. If anyone has some ways to straighten it out let me know. One latch won't even mate I have to trick it or else the app says the gate is open. I'm looking at barely damaged eftrmarkets online (since a ppf wrap might be able to diy it without insurance)...

My tailgate isn’t warped but wanted to know if everyone’s plastic piece on top of the tailgate is loose? Mine has like a half inch of play vertically.
I believe the top plastic piece is made to pop on and off, like a lot of Tesla trim. Mine moves but I don’t believe it moves 1/2 an inch. MAYBE 3/16ths? Almost a 1/4 inch?

For me, one side is about 1/4 inch and other side is about 1/2 inch. Clearly visible that one side sits higher.

Maybe run a flat tool (like the side of a screwdriver or a metal ruler) across the bare stainless steel after taking off the plastic to check for any protrusions or anomalies and then gently tap them flatter with a metal working hammer or file them down with a rasp or metal file.

I prefer not pulling anything off ?
