I'm wearing out my old @$$ mini cooper until the wheels fall off.... Hopefully the CT will be delivered before my wheels far off...or else... good thing I updated my life insurance policy.

I’m going to get more gray hair and a new house. I ordered the CT3 while our home was being renovated. Tesla Solar, 4 powerwalls, & dual wall connectors in the garage. Got a MY for my wife (who thought she wanted a CR-V). The good news is she loves her MY but the “other” news is I lost my job and am relocating across the country. Better job and nice location but I’m sure going to miss this house that was dual Tesla ready.

Even though we were told by Tesla to expect delivery of our Model Y in April, they offerred us a car in December. I reminded the sales rep of that and she put a hold on it until April. The contract stipulates that if Tesla offers you a car and you don't accept then you have 30 days to pull the hold or they can cancel the order. I should have read the contract carefully when I submitted the order, but back then (August) Tesla was expecting to start Austin Model Y deliveries by the end of December. So if the rep gives you a date it means nothing. We got the mail from Tesla this week saying that we have to release the hold by next week or have the order cancelled and lose the deposit. If I go back into the queue with a new order, hoping to get an Austin Model Y, the difference in cost will be $7,000, plus the deposit, plus the difference in taxes and registration. So we will keep the order and take the next Model Y they send us, and my desire to get an Austin Model Y is over. But at least I'll get a Model Y while waiting for the truck!

You and a hundred other people I know of. @tidmutt had a similar plan. Lots of people who thought they were going to hold out of the incentives which never materialized too.

I think Tesla just got tired of dealing with this weird backlog and started telling people to :poop: or move on.

Of course, if Tesla gives you an estimated date and shows up early, they understand that funds might have been planned for that specific time period.

The pull through garage was also a nice touch for the CT. Also the garage is normally cluttter-free. This is premoving house clean out phase.

No, they don't @Crissa. My sales associate did, but HQ is sending out boilerplate emails, and HQ wins. Ii thought that I timed my order to get an Austin Model Y not knowing that FSD and Model Y prices would go up or that they would delay production. I didn't think it was going to be a crap shoot, but I was am not at all unhappy with the Model Ys from Fremont, not at all; I just wanted the new features coming out of Austin. My planning doesn't often backfire but it did this time.

We all have our skeletons. Some are just more embarrassing than others.
It's smart to wait on the MY. U.S. supply may outpace demand in another 12-18 months. Prices should come down. Obviously CT is going to be a lot more than a year or two. Prices will likely increase significantly so you better be saving up.

Yeah, eventually I may just accept a Fremont Model Y, it's supposed to be a temporary solution until the truck comes. It might be a long term temporary solution though, so a Austin Y would be nice. My current estimated delivery is March 15th-31st, so I might get lucky or be able to hold out long enough to get an Austin allocation. If I give up my reservation, it will cost me an extra $2K for FSD. Tesla timed the FSD increase perfectly from their perspective I think. I'm happy to pay the extra $2K if it means I get an Austin model. I do wish Tesla would just provide some clarity on the process. If it's going to be random, then just confirm it's random. If there is going to be an option to pay a premium to get an Austin Y, then communicate that option. Then I'll lock down one way or another. That is the right way to do it from a customer experience perspective and yes, no matter what their demand is, Tesla needs to remain a custom centric organization. They may not always have almost infinite demand.

I would love to see an Austin launch model, I would say a Plaid, but I'm scared of the cost and I think that name carries too much weight. Some other Space Balls reference, how about The Model Y with Liquid Schwartz Mode or something. Extra $3K. Fine, I'll likely pony up for it.

Come Elon, do something cool.

Send them some legalese. They're changing the terms mid stream.

sadly, they aren't. It was always in the sales agreement, and not even buried deeply. I just assumed that the date they gave me was the actual date (or very close) so I didn't read it. They are on solid ground. My screwup. Its still a great car.

No, that's not how contracts work. Them changing the date to earlier is fraught with issues, and while it's in the contracts, that doesn't make it enforceable.

They gave you an expected date, and while they may want you to be ready at any time, the test is 'is that reasonable' not 'did they write it in a contract'.

I'm not suggesting to sue them, just to point this out and get your due. This isn't legal advice ^-^

My ”holdover” truck will be a 2022 F150 BEV Lightning. All indications show that our beloved Cybertruck won’t see production until Q3 of 2023. That‘s roughly 1.5 years away.

I placed my $100 reservation early and received the Ford configuration e-mail on Thursday. I ordered a base XLT and resale values should be off the hook. The crazy high Lightning demand far exceeds how many trucks Ford can build. Ford cut off taking reservations a while ago and some dealers reportedly are receiving minimal allocations for 2022. Ford claims a 24 week wait after production begins in the spring. I am looking at a Q3 delivery date at the earliest.

I was in the 3rd wave of configuration e-mails that started last month. The $40k Pro model? It sold out quickly and is unavailable to order. The rumor is that Ford only allowed 500-1000 Pro model trims to be built for 2022. Total Lightning production for the year is said to be around 15k units.

I have pointed it out on several occasions and it is well documented. It may be a moot point as Tesla hasn’t given me an expected delivery date and I saw on Tesla Motor Club someone who unlocked his order in December and got an expected delivery date in June. We’ll see when I get an expected delivery date.

After my CT Reservation, I bought a M3P (awesome)...current 3/4 ton diesel is a 16 GMC with 60k - so she's got plenty of time....

All that being said, if I could get a Rivian - I'd sell the M3P and have two trucks- just to Bridge the wait for the CT....but cant get a Rivian anytime soon so not really an option
