Perspective Tesla Cybertruck buyers should consider every thing that they read.

Yet we do need to go back to statistics class. I was talking to some people about how important my statistics class that I took was.

And then we need to look at the statistical bias to the comments. How relevant they are to the whole picture.

I think anybody on this forum especially Tesla owners have had their car in for service or any car in for service. It's not fun.

Yet I think that running off and scaring off customers because of issues that some are having is disingenuous to a corporation.

Forget that it's Tesla for a moment, that some other company is selling a widget. They're trying hard to get it perfect and perfect is not always attainable. Their new customers buying the first edition. Understand that perfection is not yet there. Certain items will not be delivered but they're going to be on the forefront leading in technology. The customer accepts that.

There are people in the interwebs or internets that continually chop at the ankles and the knees of the corporation trying to sell the widget. They can't fight back in these interwabs or if they do it could compound it the problem.

Others that have had success with the product come in and say hey it's no problem with us. Try it out. It's a pretty good widget. Those people are told no no. Don't you dare tell us that the widget is perfect. We say no. The widget isn't perfect but it'll be fixed in time if you're patient, great. If not, you're not going to be on the leading edge.

Sums it up. Nothing is perfect in life. Definitely not any form of an automobile on the leading edge of technology. Yet some are striving for perfection.

I think there's some saying about being in an arena.

Correct. But the follow up apology was.

Never asked for untainted perfection. But questioning justification for recurrent disappointment.
So 50% of the time I should accept your comments. That's good man. I get ya.

Let us know the next time you want to be heard, or if ya just got something to say. Big difference.

  1. My truck has not bricked.
  2. Used several car washes without issue.
  3. No tonneau gap.
  4. Tonneau buttons work fine.
  5. Overhead gear selector still in place.
  6. All panels still attached.
  7. All glass in good shape, still attached.
  8. Wiper works great.
  9. Rear doors open correctly.
  10. Seatbelts correctly installed.
  11. Screens fully functional.
  12. One service visit, took overnight, sad it wasn't longer because I was enjoying FSD on the loaner

Based on my sample size of 1, the Cybertruck is perfect. You've had a different experience unfortunately, but that is not indicative of the model as a whole.

You've had more problems than is typical, and I understand that is frustrating. But I believe if you hang in there, you're gonna end up with a great truck that'll make you forget all about the teething pains.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you and understand all the points made on this thread. But geez, I thought this forum was the venue to share my concerns amongst fellow Tesla supporters/owners who may have similar concerns.

We all obviously love the Tesla brand. Honestly, didn't think my post was going to be interpreted as scaring future customers, destructive, and misleading.

And come on, you can't possibly say Tesla service experience is better or getting better.

In fact, I was actually commenting on my blind support for the brand. I mean, how many of you all still have this?

No, I was admitting that I misinterpreted your prior post but yea didn't help that I decided to be an ass about it in the first place. I'll own up to that.

lol. Nice breakdown of things that didnā€™t breakdown! I guess ā€œmy perfect truck is in the drivewayā€ wasnā€™t good enough. šŸ˜†

As a fan of Tesla and early adopter of the Model X, I have asked myself multiple times why I subject myself over and over again with quality and service issues.

Regardless of being the first of its kind, issues regarding the foundation CTs continue to grow.

***THESE ARE NOT ISSUES I'VE HAD WITH MY TRUCK PERSONALLY BUT NOTED ACROSS FORUMS/X***

1. Bricking due to charging issues/PCS/HV/harness
2. Bricking after car wash
3. Tonneau cover gap
4. Water damage to tonneau cover buttons
5. Overhead gear selector popping/dropping
6. Panels flying off
7. Windshield cracking/deformity
8. Windshield wiper motor not working
9. Rear doors not opening 90 degrees
10. Seatbelts installed incorrectly
11. Screen blacking out
...

On top of that, service is backed up, takes forever to get parts, repair itself takes days to weeks, and worse part of it all... poor communication...

I've already had my front windshield replaced, wiper motor replaced, gear selector fixed, and now find myself waiting on a side mirror replacement.

I repeatedly convince myself that it's okay and find myself justifying the situation. Like a bad/unhealthy relationship you keep on going back for more abuse. Not only am I complacent, I defend the behavior by saying,

"It's a Tesla.."
"Small price to pay as an early adopter..."
"I knew what I was getting into..."

It's sad, foolish and so egregious that it's comical. Never did I allow this with my other cars.

Yet I sit in the 100K+ car, being towed left and right, smiling and secretly hoping that it won't brick while my kids are riding in the back.

On a side note, anyone with a CT that is working without issues for more than month or two (with a couple of thousand miles+)?
Almost 3 weeks with AWD and only minor issues which are annoying but the truck is so freaking amazing that I really donā€™t give a rats ass. Smile from ear to ear every time I drive it and I personally think itā€™s well worth $100k regardless of the issues.

I'm sad you are having issues. Since you asked... I have 7k on my truck. Vin 1011. I think my truck was ground zero for the HV loop issue and it's the only real problem I've had. I just took it for service for the recall and had a great experience. The only minor problem I had was ambient lighting was inconsistent.

Why do I think I was ground zero. Mine happened before anyone reported it here or elsewhere, when it happened they sent a team from Austin to go over my truck to determine the issue. I believe they used my truck to write up the procedure to fix. Even when the HV issue happened I had a great service center experience. Actually in 7 years of owning Teslas most all of my Service Center experiences have been great to exceptional!

OP, this is classic forum ā€¦youā€™re seeing all the squeaky wheels in real time and letting it get to you as you aggregate them in your head. Understandable since you had a couple major items fail, but youā€™re conflating the others issues with yours. In reality youā€™re seeing the unlucky report their pain points while the majority drive around without a problem. Step away from the forum and enjoy your truck!

FWIW, my experience is totally different than what you describe, and this my 3rd Tesla. My CT was missing its license plate screws šŸ˜±. The frunk needed a little alignment to match the leading edge of the side panels. I havenā€™t received all of my FS items šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø. My 2016 MS75D has had almost nothing wrong with it over >100k miles. Our 2018 MX100D was a bit more challenging, but through all of that the SLC Serv Center has been stellar.

Try three things: 1) Step away from the forums, 2) remember youā€™re driving a Cybertruckā€¦life must be pretty good, 3) optional: hum Monty Pythons ā€œAlways look on the bright side of lifeā€ while you drive it down the street.

Cheers

My CT has been good to me thus far. I was listing the issues others have had on the forum.

Basically I share your sentiment. I am also terrified my experience will change based on reading all the issues others have had. And yes... service was phenomenal years ago but now it's difficult to tolerate.

I still have that! And the little M3D they gave us, and the coffee mug, and the umbrella. It was a special time to be in love, the early dating phase šŸ¤£

There is no ownership requirement to be in this forum, otherwise weā€™d have a lot less textual salivating (me included before I took delivery. I think Crissa adds value to the forum and hope she stays. Iā€™ve seen various people on here shaming her for commenting without owning, and I disagree with the sentiment.

I lurked for years in TMC forums, learning everything possible and asking questions, commenting, before I could convince my wife that a MS was a better choice than a minivan, and that we could afford it.

While I couldnā€™t own the car I observed the forums to learn more about owners satisfaction, issues with the cars, software updates, early AP, etc. I had to parse the squeaky wheels against the satisfaction levels, ultimately concluded TSLA was building pretty good cars, added TSLA shares through those years, and ultimately became an owner. If I allowed every panel gap and repair issue and service dissatisfaction obscure the big picture, Iā€™d be in a seriously different place financially and likely not driving a Cybertruck.

Crissa should stay and continue to add her thoughts. You and I donā€™t need to agree with her all the time, but pausing to consider her view is probably wise.

No. No they didn't. A legitimate question would be 'Have there been more issues than expected?'

The answer is, no, there's no evidence for that yet.

I don't like the pricing and don't think there's value in it, but I'm not leaving the forum.
