Why stop if TESLA can still sell all they build at the Foundation Series premium price?
Because it becomes a very scumbag move at some point. How many years can you produce an "exclusive" vehicle before it's no longer exclusive?

The entire program was created to buffer the slow ramp up in the first place. And think it's evident by now that the ramp is going much slower than they anticipated.

It’s funny being in the know vs some guy or twitter that probably misunderstood what a service rep at a single delivery center said.

We know here that they are only like 2 weeks into the reservation list (early December 2019) in terms of allowing people to place an order.

Even then, those people have months to wait before taking delivery. There are still some people who ordered in January 2024 (day 1 reservation holders) who did not yet take delivery and it’s almost June.

That would tell you that demand far outweighs supply right now. Not even close.

That said…

What could have the Florida service delivery rep told this guy that made him tweet this?

“A couple of those trucks, the person who ordered it and put the $1,000 down never showed up to pick it up.”

Reasons:
-we are halfway through the year and some people want to wait for the foundation series to end so they can pay less

-flippers are looking at the used market and getting cold feet because the Delta between the amount Tesla can come after you for and the sale price isn’t enough

-Cannot qualify for financing after getting a VIN

I’d be curious to know what percentage of those who ordered the Foundation Series who haven’t yet received their VINs ordered the Cyberbeast. I configured mine on January 2nd, and not a peep from Tesla.

Did Tesla say it was limited to a specific number or did the Internet make that assumption? I didn't recall anything like that from Tesla.

Also, Zack and Jesse from Now You Know were number 20 on the reservation tracker and they just barely got there's like two weeks ago. Surely someone who ordered within minutes of the order page going live should have the opportunity to get a Foundation Series if they want one.

Ok but why are we even talking years yet? It hasn’t even been 6 months…

Probably not far off schedule. Ordered mine 12/9. VIN wasn't assigned until 4/23. Mostly dependent on Virginia not getting allocations until that timeline.

I honestly hope that twitter FUD was actually true, but it’s not. CT demand is strong. There are 3 million reservations. Even if the conversion rate is only 20% and ramp up increases significantly, it’ll take several years for Tesla to fulfill the orders. I don’t know what these random social media authors are thinking when they post these articles. They are just showing the world how dumb they are. Anybody who thinks 80% of CT reservation holders will cancel their reservation is not thinking straight. Given the positive reviews on how good the vehicle drives, I seriously worry about when prices will normalize for CT, and when this Foundation Series gimmicks ends.

Nothing to see, just another short-seller spreading lies and misinformation hoping it catches the eyes of the ever-discerning mainstream media. I also have a pic of a dozen Cybertrucks in a holding lot. So what? Pretty sure those have all reached the owners by now.

How many car dealerships has the Twitter poster rolled past that have vehicles parked outside?

Oh right, all of them (except the ones that folded).

I just picked mine up yesterday. The Tesla SC person said the CT is popular… they are in out. He said they do get a lot of people show up and say they can’t afford it or can’t/want financing so they literally go to the next person in line. Even the other folks waiting for Tesla service stood up and watched me take delivery of the CT and commented “Wow I have never seen one.” My SC guy said they don’t hold them for more than a few days and people love them. I wish they were stacking up because I would have kept my Beast order rather than convert to AWD. But from my SC, they can’t keep them on their lot… they go like hot cakes.

was wondering if any FS owners kinda wished they'd waited, can't believe all are happy with knowing i've got my order email all ready to go after the announcement for 20 less. not too exclusive of a club, imo.
