"This was a "had to wait until it was hinted at publicly before we share it" scenario, but: Tesla will offer a Cybertruck wrap service with multiple choices within six months of the first customer deliveries. There are no price confirmations yet, but it is expected to be $8-12K."

I'm not a fan of "we couldn't tell you until it was revealed but we already knew" kinda stuff. Either say it before reveal, or say nothing. Tesla is now wrapping Y's and 3's, it's pretty much a certainty they will wrap the one-color CT. They've been showing wraps left and right.

Like mkbhd on release day.

So I've been driving the Cybertruck for about 2 months now and here is my review.

Revealing too soon can burn your sources.

Seems way too expensive at 8-12K. The flat surfaces should make the wrap go a little easier, not more difficult. Of course the CT is large, but most of the top will not be wrapped except the frunk, so mainly the front, sides, and tailgate are most of it.

Doesn't look like enough material or labor to justify that amount. I think the CT would be much more suited for DIY wrapping than many other cars. Just look at how easy the CT front would be to wrap, compared to a Model 3/Y fascia.

Also, CK Wraps is a very informative channel for those thinking of trying a DIY wrap.

💯

The materials cost < $400 max. I've wrapped before. The flat panels could make the CT the easiest to wrap vehicle in history. There aren't even door handles or badges to work around.

Not that wrapping it makes sense.

You're covering a surface that is inherently scratch and scuff proof with something highly susceptible to scratches and scuffs.

There is no touch-up pen for a wrap. If it's damaged you need to replace the entire panel.

It also does not last forever and will eventually lift/flake/peel.

If you want to personalize the truck and have the bucks, I get it though.

If it's anything like the other colors for the M3 and MY, we'll maybe get light steel, medium steel, dark steel, steel steel, clear, and Ultra Red.

As an aside, if someone with real photoshop skills could impose that yellow from the topic header picture over the full CT, that'd be much appreciated. That's the color I'm thinking of wrapping it, but I can't really "see" what it'd look like in my head.

Most of the wrap price has to be labor, so if the CT is really that much easier to wrap, and there is every expectation that this is true, then the price should be substantially lower than wraps for the 3/Y.

I can't wait for the people who fork over $10k and in 3-5 years ask Tesla for refunds because it's flaking or fading. For that kind of money, I'd expect it to be guaranteed for 15-20 years. Insane.

DIY. It takes skill to do wraps mostly because of the curves they need to stretch around and trim pieces to remove.
CT. Needs a squeegee and two bottles of quality beer.

Requested a quote from local wrap shop for CT about 4months ago. They said it would cost 5k. Tesla prices are way higher. Ultimately all of them will most likely go with 3M. Not sure why the cost difference is so much.
