With the proposed 500 miles of range from the RAM it's enough to keep me interested while waiting for the CT3 or CT4. I still sort of surprised no other manufacturer has even tried to debut a 500 mile variant.

I'm glad Tesla doesn't need some over-paid marketing department to come up with some catchy model name, but instead simply allows the car substance reputation to grow and attract buyers to their cars. Much more efficient that way and the money saved likely gets us a much better car, software updates, and more.

I’m not entirely sure because Tesla has a catchy name… just no over-paid marketing department.

Poor choice of words on my part.

My assumption: Ram’s battery tech is on par with GM & Ford’s.

I’m looking at the size of the battery & likely weight they are cramming into the Silverado and trying to figure out how Ram is going to get 500 miles of range out of it. Chevy was only able to get 1300 pounds cargo capacity and 400 miles range out of the Silverado. Bigger pack might increase range, but reduces cargo capacity.

I suspect this is why Ford is limited to 320 miles range as well. Ford chose to retain the cargo capacity and have a lower range.

The only way anyone is getting 500 miles range and the cargo capacity they need out of a light duty truck is if they have a significantly different design with better technology.

Maybe Stellantis has a secret lab and are leapfrogging everyone‘s battery tech?

We’ve all kind of assumed Tesla has a trump card here, but they are likely bumping into a these same questions. Lots of people wondering if Cybertruck will be classified as a heavy duty truck because of this same problem.

Could Ram be built with Solid State batteries? It could explain their late appearance. And I’ve heard that Quantum Scape is going to launch production of these batteries by 2024 and got a contract with another top 10 carmaker.
Just wild thoughts....
