It isn't about the numbers; it is about the attitude. I would like to see greed squashed in all its forms and I hate people that cut in line too. Same attitude: that what they want trumps everything else.
Breaking news, Tesla is rolling out services called Genie+ and Lightning Lane, better get your Park Reservation in!

Tesla’s “embarrassing margins” (as Elon puts it), indicate what Tesla is doing about it. How this will translate to CyberTruck is infinitely debatable, with multiple sliding scales of probability.

Maybe Cybertruck isn’t as awesome as we all think it will be. Maybe every single person that reserved would prefer a Cybertruck in their driveway instead of an extra $20-$40k in their wallet.

I’m pretty sure a cybertruck sold at $50k MSRP will easily sell for $70-80k in the open market for quite a few years.
Don't underestimate Tesla's management: if they realize that the Cybertruck is underpriced resulting in 2+ year of backlog, Tesla will swiftly adjust prices.

No underestimation here, their current market clearing strategy indicates exactly that.

Given that both Berlin and Austin have taken a year to reach a production rate of 200k pa. It’s clear there is already a backlog of over 3-4 years. A no resale agreement for a few years would facilitate a lower MSRP.

No matter how high Tesla set the price, there will be some non-reservation holders that will pay a little more to gain access. Which means the market clearing price will keep rising, unless they initiate pricing as pseudo Dutch auction.

There is another way.

What other way?

Careful! If you invite a conversation, you'll be pressured to join "The Church of the Redeemed Parasitic Profiteers for Jesus"

So everyone on the reservation list gets delayed or soaked? Because...

What other way?

Teslas current market strategy is to delay or “soak” the reservation list.

The other way is to have a two tiered market strategy;
Reservation holders could purchase at reveal prices but only with a resale restriction (such as the one GM uses for the Silverado WT). The second part of the two tiered strategy is to allow unrestricted purchase through a weekly/monthly auction demonstrating the current market value on the day of purchase.

This doesn’t remove the potential for parasitic losses completely, but does transparently demonstrate the demand value of the product.

Scalping of Cybertruck probably won’t be too much of an issue with the current strategy.
Do you want Tesla to delay or “Soak” the reservation list?

I've not been pressured this hard to change my mind since my extended warranty expired
You ?purchased ?an ?extended ?warranty ??? but you’re trying to incite ridicule for pointing out base reality of the capitalist system.
Oh the hypocrisy is delicious.

Yes “The Church of Disingenuous Shitposting” has had your heart for many a year. ?

I'm pretty sure that Tesla will give away the early Cybertrucks to Austin residents for free just for the exposure, and then make it up in volume
Reservations? I'm not buying that ugly truck, I'm here for delightful intellectual discourse

I'm honored you're keeping a list
Nah, I just looked through your profile, so many examples to choose from.

And then I realised you’re got me again! You’ve filled up the thread with extraneous waffle to divert attention from the topic at hand because it threatens your potential for parasitic profiteering! You are clever.

Two tiered market structure.
Reservation holders can buy at MSRP with a covenant preventing on selling for a predetermined time.
Reservation holders can also purchase at auction with no covenant restrictions.
As production ramps and interest heightens regular weekly/monthly auctions could be open to all, (for a small percentage of the production) matched to the rate of cancellations from an inability to scalp the reservations. The end of quarter deliveries would be simpler as there would be a few people ready to collect the same vehicle.
