i posted a comment on his vid.

I feel legacy prices are arbitrary, as strange as that sounds, they are pricing somewhere between a loss and a justifiable sell price.

On the other hand , Tesla will set a sell price to make its planned profit.

The better comparison would be the Semi. Clear Price and Performance discrepancy between the Tesla Semi and Legacy Electric Semi's. CT will follow suit.

I think you have to add the Musk factor. Elon is going to price the Cybertruck very competitively. It is part ego and part smart business. He may not get the Tri-motor under the tax credit threshold, but it will be substantially less than $99,000 and will come with a lot of bells and whistles. The basic cost of all of the models will be essentially the same. The variables will be battery, motors, and options.

I think the price will increase from what we saw at the unveiling, but not this drastically. If we need to talk about inflation, you have to mention that the Model 3 is $1000 less today than when the Cybertruck was unveiled and he’s using a lot of historical data about how Ford and GM have done business in the past that doesn’t really concern Tesla. He didn’t mention that Tesla always seems to get more range per kWh of battery than their competitors and the Cybertruck should take this to the extreme based on its shape. Tesla is already undercutting their competitors in price without having a vastly different vehicle design that doesn’t have a paint shop.

He walks thru his "estimate" for the Cybertruck pricing. He is using his best guess-o-meter.

Cybertruck price for a 354 mile range model = $79,990

He makes other estimates on price if Tesla were to sell it at no profit. (Which I can't see Tesla doing. They don't need to do that).

This sounds good to me. I’m assuming he’s referring to the dual-motor AWD. I think the “performance” model (tri-motor AWD) will be between $90K-$100K. Just my guess and opinion, fanboys.

I just watched a video of his today where he defended FSD while driving on a clear highway. Not the best way to defend a system whose limitations show primarily on city streets. Without seeing this one I am inclined to ignore his predictions - even if I/we didn’t have excellent reasons why Tesla should price the Cybertruck more or less the way it was unveiled.

I might add that all the comments on the video I saw today were kiss ass comments, so his followers either don’t know about FSD at all or they don’t care.

don’t believe this guy unless he has a verifiable quote from Elon Musk.

Me too! No way they make the top end model $30k more than originally announced. That's an almost 50% increase. Why are all these crazy rich people and YouTubers pitching this price all the time? It makes zero sense.

So there should be at least 300,000 that will pay $80,000 for a Cybertruck.

Rivian and Ford are both selling $80,000 pickups (ALBEIT not in large volume).
In theory, the Tesla should be "worth" more than either of those.

Hopefully after Tesla sells a good slug of $79,990 Mars Edition of the Cybertruck, they will be able to bring the price down if a few years.
I would prefer not to enter this argument again but you are drinking the evil greedy legacy automaker salesperson protocol coolaid. Tesla has a vision to change the world by mass adoption of BEVs. They cannot achieve that goal by doing what everyone else does, and their pricing over the last 6 months should make that clear. Anyway, perhaps we can stop with the pricing predictions until Christmas.

Because they don’t care what it costs? I do. I have never paid even as much for a car as I paid for our Model Y and that was scary. I have lots of reasons why I think the price will be close to the price at the unveiling but I need it to be also.

Fair estimate. We are all just throwing darts until Tesla releases the price.

I do too, but I don’t think I am. This vehicle is going to be priced like the Model S and X, not the 3 and Y. Tesla does not want CyberTrucks cannibalizing their Model Y sales. The reason the 3 and the Y have come by down in price so much is because they’ve been out for a while. Tesla has has a chance to ramp production, reduce costs, share parts, build new Giga Factories, etc. The CyberTruck is a brand new vehicle with fascinating new manufacturing methods. They’re not going to sell that at cost. There’s a reason prices were removed from the website.

A Model X starts at $98K
A Model S starts at $88K

So, yeah, Tesla is not afraid to price a vehicle $88-100,000.

True, but Elon has said multiple times and in multiple ways that the CyberTruck will not be cheap (not his exact words).
Not even close. Find the quote or don’t say it.
