That's impressive-looking CGI. Maybe based on actual crash tests?
I am gonna take a wild guess and say Ford had nothing to do with putting that CGI together based on the Bronco death scene.

i NEED more details. CT seems like a missile: i bet they are building a temp crash test facility in Texas, casue they keep breaking other people's stuff with their cyber truck. I picture it sticking out the concrete wall like Excalibur!

I guess it is a good thing these tests measure the safety of the occupants, not everyone else. Oh, this is new.. https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-release...thiness-pedestrian-protection-testing-program
Nurf stick on bumper padding. And teach the people to pay attention. No texting or phone when you cross the streets and roads. People need to take responsibility for their distractions.

What are the crumple zones on the cybertruck? In a 50mph crash it seems the occupants will absorb the full 50 mph since the cybertruck is seemingly so sturdy it's not going to crumple anywhere to absorb some of the energy of the collision. So the occupants will get the full deceleration in an instant whereas if the cybertruck crumpled the deceleration would be absorbed a bit and an instant would be stretched out to a significant fraction of a second.

A vehicle as you've described would not pass basic crash tests.

Why? Because there are no crumple zones? Where are the crumple zones on the cybertruck?

The entire front-end is a crumple zone, from the front casting to the sheet metal and suspension.

I perused that NTRSA website and its discussion of the updates to the existing New Car Assessment Program. Here is their summary:
This proposal is part of the agency’s comprehensive efforts to encourage pedestrian safety improvements in vehicles by adding tests that will show whether a vehicle can offer better protection to pedestrians in the event of a collision. These tests will provide consumers with crucial safety information about pedestrian safety and protection. NHTSA is also developing a proposed rule setting safety standards for automatic emergency braking, including pedestrian AEB for newly manufactured light vehicles.
I read this as, 1. including crash testing cars into simulated "pedestrians" and adding a "pedestrian test score" to the test results. And, 2. setting new standards for automatic emergency braking that will include AEB standards for pedestrian situations.

None of that looks draconian and Tesla is probably ahead of the rest of the industry on AEB performance.

I doubt NTRSA will require nerf bumpers in the near future, but I do remember to awful, ugly design changes that were slapped on existing car models in 1972/73 due to US auto regulations address such things as bumper height from the road surface. Look at the difference in ground clearance of the otherwise nearly identical 1968 and 1973 MGBs and think about what that did to the car's handling performance.

Yes, drivers need to take responsibility for their driving.

Both sides, but a nurf bumper could help reduce impact pain.
