Rumor: $98900 price for tri-motor Cybertruck??

The only thing we know for sure is that they initially priced it between the 3 and Y to make it accessible to a large number if people. If they had priced it between the S and X they wouldn't have 2 million pre-orders. Hell, this website might not exist if they priced out half of the potential buyers on this site from the get go.

According to the data, a $55,000 vehicle is affordable to 75% of the US population. At $100,000 you have 20% of the public. That's a difference of 68 MILLION households in the US alone, and leaves you less than 25 million to sell to.

I expect there’s gonna be a lot of confused and hurt people on this forum come December to the extent people don’t stop thinking about 2019 as the relevant “test” for how Tesla scores on Nov. 30

even in 2019, the three trucks variants shown on screen were never promised to come out all at once

nothing in Tesla’s roll out history would lead reasonable people to expect that was an implicit fact

meanwhile, nothing about 2019 was a promise, and little is still relevant

if you want to “test” Nov. 30, look only at the base truck (which happens to have two motors) - that’s where Tesla is looking for volume and the first swing at remote affordability

ignore altogether the ‘performance’ variant (which happens to have 3 motors, but is not the 2019 ‘tri motor’ variant) - because that’s where stuff could get wild, and not remotely be intended for volume



all of this is to say nothing of the fact that Tesla has a history of “founders” edition units at the beginning of launches - for which they charge a hefty premium to have one of the first few dozen or several hundred units. Allows them to say “we’ve started production” while throttling delivery volume commitments by making the initial units exclusive (in number and price)

as we approach Nov 30, and there aren’t dozens of units filling GGTX lot every day, I’m increasingly expecting a slow initial production, with a ‘founders’ series sort of roll-out

The real bitch to that? Makes it theoretically possible that Nov. 30th doesn’t yet disclose either (A) exact start date of true, normal course, orders/deliveries, nor (B) the ‘normal’ MSRP for the base model

Alternatively, on Nov 30 they preview what MSRP will be eventually when they begin ‘normal’ retail production (eg in Q1 2024), but for now release specs, and for now talk about how founders edition units will begin deliveries (with or without little discussion of what ‘founders’ edition pricing is)

getting back to the top of the post: influenzas like @greggertruck might gear up to do a lot of explaining / un-confusing the masses about what’s discussed on Nov 30. Even in the best case scenario, people stuck in 2019 framework will be confused and unhappy

Why do you think I joke about going dark "on October 31st"? I kept saying that in Sep/ Summer because I am also very sure it'll be a pivot in some ways from 2019's showcase.

Tesla has pushed for affordability across their line up, it'll be crazy to see what is showcased on the 30th.

What a flop the event will be if what you are foreshadowing is accurate.
There will be a seriously confused and disappointed mob in GTX.

There is a company that is currently providing and delivering Small Modular Reactors (SMR).

They haven't finished the certification yet. Heck, I'm not sure they've built their first test reactor yet.
