I'd be surprised if the launch version does not have a 450+ mile range.

Too many folks here think that the Cybertruck will have 300 to 400 miles of range initially. Let's wait and find out.
The curb weighs provided today would lean toward a smaller kWh battery tho.

The only good surprise would be the original pricing or something very close to it. Four years ago I had the possibility of buying a CT but with the possibility of it costing 30-50% more than the original listed price, there's no way I can buy one--unless Tesla finances it on a 10-15 yr zero interest loan. ;)

There are a lot of things about the Cybertruck that I had been anticipating almost 4 years ago, that now as we get closer to deliveries(finally) that I now think won't be available.

1. Prices they said the vehicles would cost.
2. Center front seat (6passenger).
3. Spare Tire (It is an off-road vehicle).
4. Stainless Steel bed with T-tracks (w/rubber filler pieces). Also, T-slots inside the tailgate for mounting tools.
5. Mid-gate or at least roll down rear window to allow climate control in the bed for camping.
6. Built-in ramp.
7. Built-in air compressor. (haven't heard anything for years).
8. A single motor was all I needed originally.
9. Sail storage, but actually I'd thought possibly the whole rear quarter panel could be used for storage at one point.

Only new addition that Tesla has been talking about actually doing is 4wheel steering.

4 years later I'm a little disappointed, but I still have every intention of purchasing my Cybertruck. Just hurry up and build it Tesla, (while I'm young enough to enjoy it)!

BTW Diehard, Sail storage and/or storage under the dash, would be a nice surprise.

A thousand-pound swing in model weights indicates to you that there's only a smaller battery? O-o

1000?

I was thinking of the 6890 vs 6670 (below) which is 220 lbs.

Yeah, that's not what Elon said. -Crissa
My comment was about the 220 lbs difference between the 2 and 3 motor variants.
There has been a question if
the 2 motor would have a smaller battery and
the 3 motor would have a larger battery.
A 100 kWh Tesla Model S/X battery weighs 1378 lbs (625 kg).
13.78 lbs per 1 kWh in very rough terms.
If it takes 45 kWh extra battery to go from 350 miles to 500 miles that is
620 lbs (45 * 13.78 lb)
haha, yes, I realize those are rough calcs.

Looking forward to a little over 3 weeks of "clarity"!

Two hundred would just be about the weight of the motor and maybe a few other things?

While having a single battery pack at launch would be very Tesla... I don't expect that to stay the same.

some people can’t understand words

some less than others ??‍♂

Rogan: how much does CyberTruck weigh?

Musk: that depends on configuration but it’s about, I dunno, 7,000 pounds

Rogan: wow

Musk: There’s different versions but 6-7,000lbs… it’s similar to, it’s a heavy truck

Musk is stating a range : Like a Ford F250, something like that

Musk: yep

Musk is stating a range within the configurations fall, 6-7K, but at the top states their about 7,000lbs

people with small ears hear “he said one configuration is 6,000lbs, the other is 7,000lbs

small ears

The motor and related parts of the drivetrain. As well the 3 motor badge is substantial :)

Of course, there could be more cells later and that the case is only 75% full or the cells were going to be improved. Logically, it would make sense to have a single smaller battery pack if there are a limited number of 4680s and they wanted to maximize the number of trucks made.

In this case, I’m *pretty confident* the pack space is full of 4680s, and the limiting factor is instead density per cell.

Separate or in addition to my reasons for the the above, I’d like to understand how it would work/make sense to have a partially full pack. The “structural” quality of the pack results from its rigidity in design as a combined unit. @JBee is really the expert here in this point, so I’d defer to his correction, with a structural pack, it would seem to require engineering different packs that are identical in volume and that have different materials “stand in” for missing cells?

that said, it’s the same question of how in 2019 they anticipated having such large range deltas between models that presumably shared the same frame in which the pack attaches.

regardless, separate from the above interesting conjecture, I’m *pretty confident* the present real world constraint is pack density full of cells, not a pack with sn artificially constrained cell number.

And cells aren’t the only limiting reagent to vehicle numbers
