Any intel on a complete listing of variations between the “Beast” and the AWD. If it’s just torque and power then that makes the choice easy enough for me. Curious though if there are any insights yet on other things that may be included or upgraded by electing for the top trim level.

Premium Wheels standard? Locking diff only on the Beast? Etc.

While I'm certainly not a major "off-road enthusiast", based on my understanding of the benefits, wouldn't the lockers in the front and the rear be a pro for the Dual/AWD over the Tri having just one in the front? I get that torque vectoring has its use-cases but the fact that they (locking differentials) exist at all on the dual is a huge win for those of us that are leaning towards the value offered by the Dual/AWD variant!

Kyle-out-of-spec: "On the trip-motor variant, the rear dual-motor unit is mechanically unlinked like most systems but it’s an induction system"

My guess is the two independent rear motor can be software logically locked together. ie. software can monitor speed of both wheels and 'sync' them up.

Interior trim colors/materials differences, premium wheels standard, type stuff

again, directionally, think Model S vs Model S Plaid type of segmentation

With the Model S, the Plaid version made sense because you can actually feel the difference in both acceleration plus torque-vectoring when you're taking corners hard.

I wonder what difference an average driver (like me) would experience b/w the Dual Motor and the BeastMode Cybertruck. I'm now heavily leaning towards the dual motor simply from a value perspective. But I will wait to see if there are other differences to justify the $20K premium (25% more) for less range but fast(er) acceleration.

Torque vectoring is better for situations were a bit of wheel slip is beneficial, for example for launch or drift control. But for slow speed rock climbing and general off-roading front and rear diff lock will be superior and provide "real" four wheel drive, in that all 4 wheels will turn at the same time. A locker has zero latency, meaning it maintains momentum even at low wheel rpm, this is hard to do with vectoring. But the front locker on the TM would help here, so the mix of both will be pretty good overall.

I’ve not yet driven in a cyberbeast, but those who have say it’s bananas

the AWD I have driven in, and it’s launch feels just as fast but more grounded than my Lightning

personally, I find the Lightning/AWD to already be plenty bananas for a 6,900lb truck, with basic hydrologic brakes

but hey, money no object, why not buy a bigger banana

Guess it will depend on the upgrade cost for the premium wheels since that would definitely be an automatic addition for me. I’m guessing probably $4K+/-?

Also, while I don’t qualify for the federal tax credit, CO does have a universal tax credit so long as the MSRP is under $80K. Given the advertised price for the AWD is $79990, it will be interesting to learn if in fact the “premium” wheel is an optional extra and if it puts the MSRP out of contention. If so, I’m assuming one would be able to buy them independently of the vehicle and just have them installed after the fact. ?

I'm still coming to terms with how they have blown the prices out of the water, and how that correlates with the additional features offered.

I have never really participates in the pricing conversations, so maybe that caught me ill prepared.

With the Beast mode not being eligible for the gov rebate, the $27500 just for a bit of white trim, wheels and 1.4 seconds off the acceleration time, is not worth it whatsoever IHMO.

The "proposed" $68,890 DM price is much more reasonable, and given the front and rear lockers, technically maybe even superior off-road.

My list is nearly complete though... ?
At least the big important stuff!

No official confirmation of 800V yet?

DM is 20" which is the same size as the TM. Might be different wheels.

In the source code leaks from a couple days ago there were three wheel options. A basic 18” and two 20” choices. I’m assuming that unless that’s scrapped, there will be a basic 20” and a premium 20”. Speculation though until we learn more.

which is why Tesla doesn’t expect to build or sell a lot of them. As with the Model S Plaid.

But some will!

Meanwhile, the Cyberbeast is a halo product that returns dividends on marketing and loss-leading R&D. Eg here’s the landing page of Tesla’s ‘learn more’ tab:

Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast vs Cybertruck AWD Comparison BBCAA558-76B1-4877-9A4C-CDD975C4516A

note the opportunistic mix of the AWD’s range + the Cyberbeast’s 0-60 time.

and tomorrow press releases will work just the same

And all the marking/sales data basics agree: the Cyberbeast data works to sell more AWDs.

just like Ford commercials show a Plarinum trim truck with an XLT’s price splashed next to it

??‍♂

yes a base 20” rim and the premium 20” rim (which each have their own aero cover unless you buy the premium covers from accessory site, looks like)

premium:

base aero:

the premium aero is the one you’ve seen mostly.

for people buying the AWD, will be interesting to learn the up-charge for optioning the premium wheels (standard on Cyberbeast)

PS: either the 18” is just vestigial code of some sort, or has something to do with this single motor variant coming in 2025 (Musk years?)
