Yea, I have no intention of taking delivery at these prices, If they had a 500 mile version I may have pad the markup , but 320 is a Joke for 100k and I have no intentions of putting a battery in the bed. I wasn't going to cancel until my number comes up in hopes they can add another 10-15% in energy density to the 4680's which would at least bring the 2 motor truck up to 400 miles so for now I'll let the $100 ride for as long as it can.
I think you hit the nail on the head....many people, im sure will be doing the same thing...I wish someone with a lot of computer literacy can come up with a graph that shows the number of people who have or will cancel their reservations.......with all the hype at the roll out, this has truly been most disappointing to watch over the last 3.5 years....I have lost all interest in the CT....I agree that if the range was ~425, it might be a different story, but have my usage go from 248kWh per mile on my Model S to 450 to 525 with the CT is absurd considering the 320 mile range....people are going to be charging a lot more and now with Elon allowing for others cars to use superchargers and the car makers ability to use the NACS adapter, chargers are going to be full.....instead of driving around town showing off your new toy, you will be sitting at home charging or waiting in line at the supercharger.....so, I am going to stick with my great Model S.....Just sorry I sold my Tacoma TRD Sport long bed crew cab.......It was a 2016 and got 24 MPG in town and 33MPG on freeway....Good luck to all.....

Leave your reservation in there for a while longer. The price will come down, and you're locked in to really cheap FSD. If I were you, I would not cancel my reservation, until Tesla told me, to configure or cancel. Founder series will probably drop off by March. The price will come down ,as production ramp reaches certain milestones. It could be 2 to 4 years before the tri motor drops below the $79,999 threshold for BBB, but if you can leave you're reservation active that whole time, you'll get a great price on CT, and an outstanding price on FSD. FSD may even by no nag by then. You get all that potential for $100 that you haven't missed since 2019.
true, but I am extremely frustrated and disillusioned.....until they call me to configure, I will leave it there, but not holding out any hope

even on Elon time, they have said they won’t reach full production until sometime in 2025

for these and several other reasons, it would be unlikely to see CT’s outside North America until at least and with wild optimism 2026

which brings me back to my original post to you:

everything you currently know about the CT, or these deposits for Foundation units, is nothing you should be concerned about

That said: please provide info on this

I simply don't want to believe you ?. Tesla gave the possibility to make a reservation from Europe for over 3 years, so I think he has to deliver, he can. I'm around 85.000 in the Tri Motor, that should put me in mid 25. Here's the video:

By the way Y deliveries began in March 2020 in the USA, Europe August 2021. Why should it be different this time ?That would put the CT for Europe around April 2025, right on time for my number. And if people in the US continue to cancel their order....Please let me dream.

The question remains, if you have waited over 4 years for something (and how many purchases have ‘any’ of us waited over 4 years for), and given what we ‘have’ seen or experienced with Tesla and Tesla vehicles, are we going to buy or not?
I waited for a new tundra since 2013 . In 2014 toyota did refresh which was garbage. In 2021 they finally did the all new tundra. Unfortunatley they did so with a turbo v6 and their Hybrid sucked. I had already reserved a Cybertruck so I kicked Toyota to the curb after waiting 8 years. Now I wait for the CT.

I have no problem waiting and I have no problem moving on when I am not satified. Tesla priced the CT to maximize their profits, and I am confvinced they had no intention of honoring that preorder figure.

So they will sell the "I will pay anything price" ( founder edition), followed by the overpried release MSRP thern they will likely release the 60K single motor before they begin to lower prices and eventually both of these will be 20K+ cheaper in a few years.

In the meantime I am back looking at the tundra again...

BREAKING:

Starting today, Cybertruck reservation holders will have to pay a $1,000 early access deposit to convert existing reservations into orders (once Tesla invites you to configure and order your Cybertruck).

It will be credited to your final purchase price upon delivery.

Not sure if it'll work but changed my address to the midwest home instead of california to buy more time before they send an invite.?

Good, hopefully that weeds out some buyers who are not serious. On the other hand $1000 is peanuts compared to the purchase price so maybe this won’t have much effect
I'd like to give three more likes to this comment please and thank you.

At your hourly rate why would you care?
Seems to me like the peeps that talk the most about how much they make usually make the least. Kinda like the dudes I went to college with that were always talking about all the women they’d been with. Turns out they were all still virgins…. ?

also gives pause to those of us waiting for more information,l: more details online, more independent reviews, more test drives, showroom trucks not roped off, etc.

On one hand, I bought my Lightning sight unseen

On the other hand, the Lightning proposition was familiar by design

with the CyberTruck, even on this forum, there are people still asking if there’s a midgate…
A mid gate is defined as the separation between the pickup cabin and the bed. What was promised in 2019 was an OPERATING mid gate, like the Chevy has. CT is a unibody with a NON-operating mid gate. Instead, CT has a powered toneau cover that slides down the mid gate area. Chevy does not have a toneau cover; so their mid gate can open. Normal (non-unibody) pickups can have opening rear windows; sort of a mid gate ...

I guess I’m confused/unsure here

If I’m understanding correctly, prior to yesterday people being offered Foundation units had a $250 non-refundable deposit at time of placing a Foundation order

But now, as of yesterday, ordering a Foundation unit requires a non-refundable deposit of $1,000?

It makes me wonder what exactly was the learnings by Tesla causing them to change this deposit from $250 to $1,000

Inference must be something like people giving the $250 then latter affirmatively cancelling Foundation orders

Nobody’s known to have taken a single delivery of a Foundation unit (post delivery event)
I have been reading that a lot of people are cancelling orders because of price now and falling short on promised vehicle options. It’s another way to pull a grand out of customers who wait to the last minute to cancel. This vehicle is falling way short of Elon's promises. Doesn’t the multi billionaire have enough money. I will say this vehicle better be perfect. Your number will come up sooner with the cancellations. But will it be worth it. All teslas should have pick up beds so they can all have the extended battery pack. lol, the Cybertruck is going to cause a lot of disgruntled customers that really need a hard working pickup with out a battery pack taking up bed space. Just saying. It’s all about the money Elon.

Aren't people still waiting for the Roadster 2 that put down HEFTY deposits? That should tell you that you *still* could wait a considerable time to receive your CT whether the deposit is low or high, refundable or not.

The non refundable part is what's vexing. That doesn't change anything for Tesla. If someone completes design and puts down $250 and then requests a refund the current demand should yield another buyer pronto. Pure conjecture but this tells me they may be getting quite a few cancelers post deposit -- possibly after seeing the foundation options -- and they want to get this foundation period over and done with.
