I disagree. At least you get some stuff with it. The dealer ADM is the salesman patting you in the ass for bending over and taking their shit and being an idiot. At least this money goes to Tesla and not a shitty dealer.
In the case of the CT, since there's no dealer, the D in ADM is Tesla. So we are in total agreement.
I don't care who's making the money though as it's my free will to be an idiot when purchasing over sticker.

Someone do an income poll. How so many of you chomping at the bit to drop a cool 100 gs?

Wild.

This would be terrible news imo.

People are already skipping me. Don't need more
Perfect opportunity to scam Tesla with very low numbers so they drop the prices.

Does that make the Foundation Series markup an ATM…

The post just got people to connect the dots between the large number of people who have ordered and the numbers of new emails going out and it sure seems like WAY over 1,000
At this point it may be over 20,000
With like 200 confirmed orders on this forum alone, it's not that limited. If it was just 1000 Units they could've been sold privately like all limited editions Ferrari/Lamborghinis, all their limited editions are already sold by the time they reveal the car to the public.

Yup WAYYYY more than 1,000 the 20,000 and beyond looking more likely at this point.

If you look at the Ford Lightning, the electric version of the F150, the most popular truck and even the most popular vehicle in America, it had 200,000 reservations. Though after 1 year of sales and no where near even 100,000 units sold, dealerships had stock at the ready for anyone to buy and take home. Even now, when they should easily have more than 100,000 reservation holders eagerly awaiting their spot in line, Ford announced that they won't be increasing production and will just build to meet demand. It's also worth noting that this includes a model that is significantly cheaper (while not being as nice) as the current Cybertrucks being sold.

If you look at Tesla. The Model Y is the most popular Tesla and actually one of the best selling vehicles around. Tesla even sells more than 10x the amount of Model Y's than they do of Model S. This is most certainly because of the price. The model Y is a reasonably priced vehicle and people are at least rational enough to realize they can be happy with a Model Y and not break the bank instead of selling a kidney to get the Model S.
If one were to look at Mach-E sales one would surmise there would be no demand for Model Y at the volumes it is selling at. It's not unreasonable to think that Tesla could theoretically sell out 2024 production with Foundation Series Cybertrucks if they were to go through the entire reservation list, given the pent up demand. Whether they will is a different matter.

I don't get how people are amazed that Tesla is in the business to make money ... the question is why wouldn't they sell as many Foundation editions as they can?

Think people are just questioning why have a "reservation" line at all if the first 20,000 vehicles are going to the higher/highest bidder.

Well, there was never a reservation line, just a reservation. The order was always going to be based on trim being produced for a given geographic delivery area, with the price and features subject to change. This is how Tesla has always done it.

I guess based on that the question becomes how many will they produce for a given region before moving to the next.

I'm a day zero reservation but in Alabama, I don't expect to even get an configuration invite until mid next year.

Yes but Ferrari/Lambo aren’t trying to scale to produce 250,000 per year of any particular model.

Even if it’s 20,000, that’s till going to be pretty limited if Tesla gets the production of the CT they’re shooting for going forward.

I just got my email to configure my CT. I'm in Wisconsin. I was about 14K in line. Unfortunately, I don't want the FS.

I don't know, they have offered FS to people in over 20 states now, including GA/FL and other states close to AL.
Not sure that "reservation" has any legally binding definition in this case but one would think common sense wise if you "reserved" to purchase something in front of or before 1,00,000 other people you would have a decent shot at purchasing it before them.

I didn't know there was a GA Foundation! Dangit!

I'm sure all reservations will get a buy/pass option before everybody else.

I sometimes think Tesla hires ex-starbucks baristas to work in customer service, You know, the ones that get your name wrong just to mess with you?
