I went thru this with the Model X, waited 3 years after deposit. Got a low VIN and sticker shock, when what we thought was gonna be $85k in 2013 turned out to be $120k in 2016. Couldn't wait to get the damn thing. 230k miles later and it's still kickin, worth every penny.
Similar with me but I put a $40K deposit down for a Signature P90DL X and waited exactly 3 years as well when it was supposed to be out in 1 year! Unfortunately, a deer took it out a year later (and almost me) but I ended up getting a 2017 100D X that now has ~100k miles and many road trips.

Was hoping to road trip in the Cybertruck (safer glass; SUV room but with vault) but looks like its efficiency/range is markedly worse unless I get the Range Extender. Perhaps doing: "500" mile Tri -> "470" mile Dual w/RE. Longer range allows you to get off the Supercharger "railroad" tracks more.

except for the strange bobble that people with locked in FSD are now as a result paying the most for Foundation units - it was only going to cost them $7K, but now they’re paying full freight

which to me suggests you weight towards pick people with FSD locked in, because that Foundation sale is worth ~$5K more to Tesla

if Tesla wanted to honor the FSD lock in price, all they had to do was give special Foundation pricing, at $95K or $115K, to folks with FSD price locked in

Clearly FSD isn’t the only metric in their decision, but if it’s weighted towards FSD it’s not clear to me that it’s entirely because it’s be easier to swallow. At best two birds one bush
Given current demand, why would Tesla ever do that and leave $5K on the table?

Based on what I'm seeing so far, there is at least a 3-year wait now already. When we receive more and more reviews, the demand will exceed supply and Tesla will increase prices, not decrease them.

Just my 2 cents.

After waiting 4 years, there's definitely the "I'll pay whatever you want, just give me the damn truck." I went thru this with the Model X, waited 3 years after deposit. You paid $120K for a Model X P100D in 2016? If so, the CyberBeast at $120K is a steal! ?

only because they promised people in 2019 that if they locked in FSD it would cost only $7K

you’re just explaining why Tesla is basically weaselIng out of that deal

Worse, I paid $120k for a regular 2016 Model X 90D to be "first" on the block. That did include all the options (minus performance, we needed the range), taxes, title, whatever other crap.

From what I understand, the RN queue was RN112744100 as the benchmark from when the first RN for the CT could have possibly existed. The RN queue contains all Tesla models as they are reserved (they should probably track this with blockchain, lol, Blockchain is dead.). I have RN112744XXX and was invited to order and did. My girlfriend was laughing at my frantic nature and has a picture of me on my laptop with my credit card in the air desperately trying to enter the info.

Nice!! 112744. Very cool. I was doing the same except my first 7 attempts didn't go through then my 8th did. All were AWD non fsd. Next morning we saw 8 reservations and 8 $100 charges. I got 8!! About 2 months later I canceled 6 and kept 2. On Dec 22nd I confirmed AWD Foundation. Awaiting final steps. Can't wait!! Our second reservation we received notice to order Foundation but are holding out to see what happens to the order in the next few months to see when we could possibly order an 80k AWD.

You can rest assured they will probably deliver every $100k AWD they can before even hinting that you can order an $80k AWD. I'd likely eat the $1000 additional deposit and switch up if it were possible to skip my "impatience tax."

Correct. Obviously, I am not happy about it as a future Cybertruck owner who did lock in FSD at the original pricing.

This is incorrect. People buying the cyber beast are paying around $7000 for FSD.

Only people who are buying the AWD are paying the full freight.

how do you figure

For the cyber beast spreadsheet, I have a place holder for $7000 for FSD. All the items totaled is around $20K. The cost of the foundation edition.

When you look at the same spreadsheet for AWD even with a $7Kplaceholder, it’s roughly $5000 short of 20 K. Add the $5K difference to the $7K placeholder, and you get $12k for FSD.
