*sigh*

We're not going to be able to get anything off the ground if trolls like you are totally incapable of telling the truth.

250 miles range was not what was advertised at the reveal.

They could have increased the efficiency, they could have increased the range, they could have simply used larger and more powerful batteries.

They didn't.

So the range suffers.

If you want to buy a truck with extremely limited range, absolutely no one is stopping you.

But there are some people who expected the range to be much closer to 300 mi, and that's what we were promised.
Wait. So they could have increased the efficiency, and the range, and used the larger more powerful battery’s but they didn’t so the range suffered?

What?

You make absolutely no sense man.

And if you don’t want to buy a truck because you claim it has limited range, no one is making you.

Please. Stop trolling man. Move on.

You don’t always get what you want in life. Move on.

Oh and also no one promised you jack shit.

There is no meltdown, cupcake.

You and the other trolls here are the ones who are getting all emotional.

Stop being such a a sad apologist for Tesla.

They didn't.

So the range suffers.

If you want to buy a truck with extremely limited range, absolutely no one is stopping you.

The only reason Tesla recently announced revised range numbers is because they were going to be sued for misrepresentation of those numbers.
Looks like you have EV engineering all figured out. Enjoy that EV startup with your vast knowledge of every intricate decision that was made.

Now to talk rationally, I do wish they could have gotten 400+ miles on the truck (and maybe they will), but I have driven EVs enough up here in the PNW to know that it is hard to engineer beyond physics .. I trust the people much smarter than me when it comes to building a car/truck

And I read all of your sad apologies for Tesla in the voice of a sub gimp asking that Elon shove it in a little bit deeper and harder.

You are one absolutely pathetic troll.
Yikes. That’s ummm. something cringy?

Godspeed man. Best of luck whatever you choose.

I think I was lied too also. When I purchased my Lightning they said ON THE WEBSITE my Lightning would have 240 miles of range. Today when I got in it after a full charge last night my mileage showed 218???

Then when I drove it less then 3 miles in the 28 degree weather this morning it dropped to 189 miles remaining. I ONLY WENT 3 miles and it dropped from 218 to 189.

I'm getting a lawyer.

You can sign up here. They are taking hopium deposits. Yet one will likely get the dust from that fairy as well.

Sad that the B2 truck was my first choice. Would have paid up to $150k for it. Fits every need I could ever have.

thank you for making clear that I am not manipulating, and instead that you just have no clue how electric vehicles work or are advertised.

The moment that the number 320 was flashed on the screen as a singular range number, you should’ve known everything you’re now upset about.

What was not flashed on the screen? “320 miles in sustained highway driving, your mileage will not vary depending on conditions.”

this basic stuff
I have been driving EV since 2018 and still own and drive Model X and reserve CT
Also I pretty much know how the EV science work.
I was replying to you real world post.
Following is the screenshot my model x driving , which I have driven 80,000 miles

Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series Remorse IMG_0687

The average 403 wh / mile after driving
For cybertruck it is 590 wh / mile
Or say 550 wh / mile
For full battery 100 to 0 will be 123000/550
= 223 miles , so one does not charge 100% and empty 0, assume 10% before recharge
So effective rage is 200 miles
PS: I have converted my Porsche 911 to fully electric using Tesla drive unit and LG batteries , all by myself so I understand the theory.

No remorse for me. I've owned 3 Rivians, 2 Teslas, a Polestar and a Zero. I guess I'm a certified electric junkie! so I know exactly what ? I'm getting myself into. Darn it, I want, no, I need my Cyber?!!

Go be mad at the EPA if you want, but direct your anger/disappointment at the right place.
I’d suggest instead be mad at the real culprit: physics

a sedan (yes, also looking at you Model X), with a small frontal plain and a 0.2 Cd will have more limited effects from temps, humidity, and speed

a truck, with a large frontal plain and a 0.34Cd, will be exponentially more effected by these things

this is not new or special to BEVs

Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series Remorse 7CBE1E08-9063-44CC-9300-9ED8A600F35A

the ONLY thing different about BEVs is the relatively small “gas tank” and relatively limited charging infrastructure

when Tesla said the truck had 320Mi (EPA combined), ZERO about the above chart/physics changed

maybe I misunderstood

But showing me you understand Model X (~same frontal plain and Cd as a Model Y), doesn’t tell me you understand the effects on range of having instead a full sized BEV truck with materially larger frontal plain and an INORDINATELY larger Cd

Maybe you do?

but if so, it only leaves me MORE baffled

understanding range in sedans is not all one needs to understand about range in a BEV truck

I’m not saying someone can’t be disappointed when Elon flashed 320mi on the screen

I’m saying I can’t understand how someone saw 320mi on the screen, and didn’t immediately understand all these inordinately expected outcomes

what‘a bananas, not a seeing 320 on screen, then seeing these “real world” results, and THEN screaming “Elon lied!!!”

that’s dunce

I don't need the 320 MILES but it would be nice to know what the vehicle can do before you buy it. It looks like the Cybertruck did not get the 6%-ish lower adjustment in listed rage that some of the other Teslas just had.

So how do you get the listed range? Seems like its difficult for them to get 250 miles. The last one I saw was flat freeway with no traffic but it was cold. It cost you 70 miles to have the heat on?
What you don’t notice on an ice vehicle (heat in cold weather doesn’t affect range because it’s free, and the engine itself makes more power) is huge on an ev. I’ve taken the same 120mile round trip in the Bay Area in 30* weather at 75mph and been getting 400+ wh per mile ( had to supercharge to get home, despite starting with 75% charge) then kept my speed at 65mph on a 65* day and got 250wh per mile.

All the discussion about how things affect range reminds me of back in my street biking days when adding a “fairing” was all the rage. Looked racy and cool and stuff. Until you actually put one on and realized that not only did it affect handling and slowed your bike down significantly, but pushing that barn door through the air also cost you more in gas mileage.

So yeah, speed kills - not just people, but electric vehicle range as well.

If we mostly drove:

At the speed limit, in

Moderately temperate climes, on

Fairly level roadways, then

we’d likely get close to the EPA estimates.

But who drives like that right?

Neither will ICE cars/trucks get EPA numbers. Too many factors that contribute to reduced range that aren’t faced in EPA range testing. Also consider that when Tesla states 320 miles of range it’s with all season tires not all terrain tires. People are choosing to pass on the FS due to the range and want the 500 miles Elon promised. If the current truck can’t give you 320 miles, what makes you believe you were ever going to get 500 miles? Because he said so? He also said the AWD would get 318 miles with all terrain tires. Comparing it to MY or M3 range is irrelevant because it weighs twice as much AND has all terrain tires, and is a truck. Personally I’m tired of paying $4.50 - $5.00 a gallon for gas in California and welcome being able to charge at home 98%!of the time where the curve doesn’t matter. If you’re primarily driving long distances, then maybe a truck generally isn’t the right choice.
The difference is ICE cars have CITY / HIGHWAY ratings and its not hard to duplicate them with most vehicles and some models surpass it

I expect the product I pay for.

Tesla lied about the range. They flat-out lied.

They've been testing, so they had to know the range was only in the mid-200's.

This past week, Tesla lowered the range estimates for a number of their vehicles because they were about to be sued.

Look, it's a free country, and it's largely a free world. If you want to be a meek apologist full of excuses for the Tesla brand, bless your little heart. You do you.

But some of us expect companies to deliver what they represented, or we'll buy something else.
Oh geez, "Your mileage may vary" was a catch phrase long before the EPA began to standardize testing, and it meant the same thing it does today: You ain't going to get advertised range because you don't drive the way the testing is done. Anyone who claims they expect to has zero credibility.
