I was being sarcastic. That is the typical response here if you ask a question like you just explained. You are right that it's important. It's more important to me than a years worth of super charging as i don't have time to sit at chargers to save a couple of $. But i wont be a happy chap if they attempt to tell me that the extra $20k i paid wont included any of what was included then try to switch me out to something i wont ever use.

If you want complete waterproof buy an SUV. If you want water resistant buy any truck with a tonneau. If you really need waterproof and a truck get the storage bins at Walmart or pay 30x to Tesla for theirs.

I have the bakflip hard cover for my ram 1500. While I love its security and tear proof quality, it is definitely NOT waterproof. I will say that despite it not being waterproof, it keeps most of the water out. Even with torrential downpours, I see small puddles only at the extreme corners of the bed. So anything central in the bed does not get wet. Again, it was never advertised as “waterproof” but it does a decent job. I still would not put electronics or sensitive material back there, but general items do just fine. I suspect the CT will experience a similar outcome. Difference being the CT has a motorized one that “disappears “ into the bed. Mine needs to be “backflipped”

Mine does a good job at keeping water out. I drive a lot of dirt/gravel roads and the dust eventually gets everywhere. I wouldn’t expect a retractable tonneau cover to be waterproof or dust proof. I’ve never had issues with anything I keep under it. If I need it to stay absolutely dry or dust free and not in a dry bag or container it can go in the frunk or cab.

I think we are on the same page here. Not perfect, but acceptable. If I were truly worried, I would do the same, keep it in the cab.

I have a tonneau cover on a Silverado Z78 4wd and basically it depends on how you park it as to if it might leak a little or not. - The down slant on the Cybertruck is good, but probably if it's parked so that it slants down but then angled back up towards the cab, then the natural drainage out the back along the tail gate might be compromised. -- Basically with the Silverado I usually just park so that the bed floor slants such that water tends to runs out the back (if in rain) and that works great to keep everything dry. So for most houses (if left outside) that basically means you just pull into the driveway rather than back it in...

Thats a fairly quick wash, hard rain on the highway I would imagine would result in a lot more water ingress.
Wet from the cabin wall and the tailgate so no real dry section to prioritize.
I think they could likely get the front vault section drying with possibly having a small lip although that might impact aero.

If you live in an area that rains from the same angles and at the same pressure as a car wash, MOVE! You live in a hurricane. Not a hurricane zone, you live in an actual hurricane.

Can you really call it water “proof” if they just add plastic tubing to the-direct the water away from the bed? I’m sure if Tesla did that there’d be a lot of complaints about a “$100k truck that isn’t water proof they just added cheap tubing and called it that “.

It does take up a good portion of my bed, but it‘s a solid product.

It will leak under the right conditions, guaranteed. Any truck person can tell you they all leak under conditions conducive to them leaking. If the car is in a mostly dry climate, or parked mostly under cover, you might not ever see or notice a leak, but it will leak.

My F-150 gets a bit of water in the bed when driving through puddles. You can see the road through the seams in the bed. That's in addition to the tonneau leaking a bit too. But overall it's pretty dry in there.

It's rarely a problem, your cargo would have to be really water sensitive for it to matter and, in that case, any thinking person would take steps to prevent the item from getting wet. It's not hard because the bed is a closed environment with no wind.

I live in the rainy PNW and my BakFlip Tonneau cover has leaked from day one, from the rubber seals around the top of the bed, this is in addition to the small amount of muddy water that can get in right through the truck bed seams. Honestly, the cab leak is a much bigger problem because it gets the carpet wet and mouldy. My bed stays nice smelling, and we never have to air it out.

Would I rather have it completely dry? Sure, but it hardly matters, and I don't think it's really an achievable goal, particularly if driving at highway speeds through heavy rain. A bit is going to seep in. But it never collects or builds up, it drains out and stays mostly dry. I just wish the cab didn't leak from new. That's aggravating and no Ford dealer has been able to fix it.
