what's going on with VIN assignments? Delivery dates should be pushed back at this rate
nobody here knows of course

but generally and historically not all orders on the same date are treated equal in terms of resulting delivery timeline

and with the CT, I suspect this is more tru than usual in terms of Tesla potentially prioritizing certain buyers over others (based on essentially friends and family status).

In any event, just because eg [100] people ordered on 12/9, it doesn’t mean they’ll be delivered in the rank of their order timing, or even that people who ordered eg 12/31 won’t see their VINs/deliveries first

Order Agreement says 12/8 order while Vehicle Details in Tesla App says 12/9 order. Possibly because I ordered at 11 pm PT ON 12/8?

No VIN assignment for me as a 12/8 or 12/9 San Diego, CA order.

Any other SoCal 12/8 or 12/9 orders waiting for VIN still?
I have 12/8 order from San Diego for a Trimotor Cyberbeast. No VIN assigned yet. The UTC Tesla manager said they already delivered four Cybertrucks locally. Im hoping delivery is in Carlsbad and not further north in Irvine as others have been reporting.

I'm also in San Diego and my Irvine delivery was updated in the app today to San Diego - Miramar. (Still no VIN for me)

Miramar delivery? Like at the Service Center? For AWD or CB?

We fondly remember our Model X delivery in 2017 at the Miramar Service Center. That delivery was in a special bay. Our delivery specialist went over every inch of the car and every menu screen. We spent about four hours at Miramar and was introduced to the entire Service Team... several are good friends to this day and have made each service visit extra special despite all the growth and changes over the years. Looking forward to a delivery in Miramar if that materializes.

Yup, the service center, for AWD. If you click your registration info and scroll down it shows the delivery service center.

Sounds like you had an awesome delivery experience! Hopefully your next one is just as good :)

To maybe add some much needed perspective - if you think Tesla is bad at communicating or delivering on a consumer facing timeline then you may not have ever dealt with other car manufacturers and the nonsense of their timelines, shit communication, and blatant disregard for their customer on the strength of the product they sell. Ferrari, Mercedes, Porsche ect, imho are much more obnoxious and arrogant about how difficult it is to get a car, get it at Msrp, or when a car will be delivered. And don’t get me started on supply chain and recall delays. I have an AMG GTR in the shop for over a year and a half due to a part recalled - and being manufactured in Ukraine.

Ferrari won’t even let you order certain models without having bought prior lesser models.

that’s all to say that while Tesla over promises and under delivers on timelines. I will say for a battery and software company masquerading as a car company - Tesla at least tries.

As to there being 49 other states and California being disproportionately represented ….. considering the company was founded here and likely has the most logistics fleshed out from the ramp and delivery out of Fremont for previous models + service and support infrastructure + the most back and forth routes for all kinds of transport between factories - I think it’s not exactly surprising that Texas and California will see the benefit of early deliveries just by virtue of the convenience and logistics of Tesla. But even with all that considered - at no point does Tesla or any company owe us anything beyond what we tolerate / vote with our wallet to accept.

I have my gripes with Tesla and its quality control and am annoyed that the cyber beast is seemingly deprioritized for the cheaper model. If it ever becomes untenable or another product comes out from a competitor to undercut Tesla for my attention span and patients then I’ll quietly move my money and business there.

You, me, anyone on this forum, or anyone walking into a showroom is no more entitled to Tesla for anything than Tesla is to us purchasing their product.

Going back to my first point - to the extent that Tesla trades on a lot of its consumers good will - I might agree with you there, but I’d argue it’s no more than any other company in this industry and space ??‍♂
I once had a BMW S1000 be delayed for pickup since there was a kickstand bolt recall and held the bike for over 2 weeks. For a GD bolt. We may never know why these vehicles take the process they do. We are all just eager so we just have to "hold our horses" and frantically check the app every 4 hours or so ?

Mine used to be in Buena Park and was just moved to Long Beach. Hopefully it's a sign I will get my Cyberbeast VIN soon.
Recently, Tesla updated all CT orders to the nearest delivery center relative to the customer’s registration address.

This does not have any major impact on timing, but I do hope you get your Cyberbeast sooner rather than later!

My CT delivery center has not been updated. There are 3 delivery centers in Sacramento, but my delivery center is still in Dublin.

VIN today 1/22/24 …1072
Dublin delivery not scheduled yet.
So that would be a Jan 11 build. VIN registration. Looks like you're getting a fresh one!
Congrats!

a few points of data:

ordered on the 8th and reflected as such in the order agreement but the app says 9th

I haven’t checked this diligently but I think they definitely did update the delivery location on my beast order

seeing this with pretty much everyone

dont know if there's possibly a cutt-off time during a day where it gets accounted for the next day, or if no matter what time of day it's not registered until the next day no matter
