The only official mention from Tesla regarding a locking diff I've seen is with the Beast.
I've been looking but I don't see anything saying the dualmotor physically has an electro-locking differential on the truck. Anyone know besides the screen message, if the dualmotor has locking diffs actually on the truck?

It's tesla. They go very far out of their way to put as little in writing as possible. If you order a foundation series, and go to your order agreement, it doesn't call out specific things that you are getting. That way, when they decide they want to not send you powershare stuff for some reason or another, you don't even have it in writing. At most you have a screen shot of the configuration page, which is not the same thing as the order agreement.

mostly people buying CT own model 3 or model y, means they plan to use CT as an SUV but they paying for truck features also

I was thinking longer term ownership than that, keeping a Cybertruck for cost of ownership savings. I think many keep their Teslas longer because even older ones legacy still can't touch. The four to five year point I referenced because that's when Tesla ownership really starts to save money, with the loans mostly paid off at that point.

I've bought cars enduring financial pain, but once I got to that four year point or so I was glad I did, especially with my Model 3. My Model 3 might have 'depreciation', but I'm not even thinking about selling it, because it's best years and savings in operating costs are still ahead. I think Cybertruck owners will be glad they bought it and still want to keep after four years of ownership also. Time will tell, but Tesla hasn't disappointed so far.

But admit I may be different because two of my previous ICE cars I owned for 18 years or longer, mainly because I do my own maintenance while keeping them away from dealerships as much as possible.

I got my invite last week while on vacation with the family. I had planned to trade in my 2018 Model 3 LR for the CT AWD, but I can't bring myself to pay the $100k price tag when I expected originally to pay somewhere between $60-$70k. I don't want the FSD as I have it on my 2023 Model Y (transferred from the 3) and don't use it much. I just cant see myself paying that much for a truck. Does anyone know if we do not purchase the foundation series, will we still have ordering option when the regular AWD is made available to order? It's funny that I was checking my email and app multiple times per week waiting for my invite only to freeze up and not go through with it once I got it. I'm sure I am one of many, but man this is a tough spot!

After much thought I have came up with a clear, rationale group of reasons why I should go ahead and order sight unseen without a test drive whichever Cybertruck they are making right now.

A LOT of deliberation went into this and I appreciate all the comments in this forum on all sides of the difficult issue.

FYI, it was already shown on the display in the retail customer videos and when they clicked it, it said not available yet. It is the famous Subaru that handles what the Cybertruck couldn't in the past couple of weeks.

I suspect they are tweaking it so people don't abuse it (purposefully or accidentally [dry cement]).

I got my invite a few weeks ago and am still struggling to pull the trigger.

I think I'm going to do the Beast for the front locking differential (which the dual motor AWD doesn't get) and power (just because).

But, the delivery time listed for the AWD dual is February while the CBeast is "Mid-2024".

Good luck with your decision. I’d be cautious about basing the decision on the February delivery timeline for AWD. There are MANY folks who have already pulled the trigger in December who are waiting for VINs and delivery dates. I don’t know how realistic February is if you’re still deciding. Again, good luck.

Do or don’t, at least you have an invite. I’ve got my small violins out … That said, I suspect that most everyone that gets the invite will have to have a serious think about buying the Cybertruck now.
