I called and asked and the answer was no the delivery window is an estimate.
which has been said on this forum many times. I think that Tesla assumes that if you ordered the car that you actually wanted it and not that you would ask petty questions about delivery. It is almost incomprehensible that someone would wait for over 4 years for a car and then get pissy when they put in an order and don't have a VIN the next day, or have a VIN and don't have a delivery the next day. But to each their own...

My mother is coming to live with me and can’t get in and out of my model 3. So I called to figure out if I would be getting the truck in time so that I can better plan. I still very much want the truck but family is more important. Do you go through life assuming the worse of people or is it just an internet tough guy thing?

I submitted my shareholder order request when it launched a few days ago but now I don’t need to submit brokerage documents because as of today I’m able to configure (#11274xxx).

Unfortunately I’m simply not rich enough to afford the Foundation series. The base AWD will work for me assuming I can get the tax credit and especially if the $7k fsd price is honored. I assume Tesla knows they will likely get a higher fsd take rate if they honor that price vs raising it to $12k and making a lot of customers bitter.

I want maximum range all season tires and I already have the PowerShare equipment so the foundation truck just doesn’t make sense for me. Im hopeful that post -Foundation series will be available this year or early next.

You aren't the only person to say it... I suspect that you will not be able to get the tax credit and the 7k FSD at the same time. My guess is they will make you take FSD upfront if you want that price, and that will exclude you from the tax credit because the vehicle is too expensive.

FSD is excluded from the tax credit limit but obviously it has to be an optional add-on to get the credit. If they honor the $7k price they will get a very high take rate and can simply deliver the fsd trucks first (which has past precedent) This strategy would create a lot of happy customers vs the alternative. At the end of year there will be the usual uncertainty about the fate of the tax credit (especially if Trump gets reelected) and Tesla will definitely be capitalizing on the uncertainty.

Neither. It is fatigue with seeing the same thing over and over again. It wouldn’t to lead with your explanation, which makes it entirely reasonable. Context is important.

Your tax statements should say when each tranche was purchased. Not your statement.

And no one knows when the truck is getting there. So they can't tell you.

-Crissa
My transactions showed itemized purchases but it wasn’t cumulative. My brokerage statements were cumulative to the date of the statement. The fact that I could get a brokerage statement on the exact day Tesla requires suggested to me that that is what they wanted.

Honestly still wondering why they're waiting so long on the emails, mainly because of the previous points campaign getting near instant communication. I just worry that if they wait much longer organic VINs may populate instead, even Cyberbeasts are popping more now.

I completed my steps in December, and have been waiting for a VIN for near 90 days now. Was hoping this would speed things along, just wish I could submit my brokerage paperwork already. :)

You got an email requesting confirmation about your shares? Can you post screenshots? Nothing here yet, and I signed up probably about 45 minutes after it was first announced. Just says in the dashboard that I'll get an email, but nothing yet.

That's not possible, given the current tax credit rules. Simply put, a software feature like FSD is not counted in the purchase price in terms of the vehicle qualifing for the credit.

Tesla has a pretty steady history of taking into account how their pricing impacts their customer's abilities to qualify for a tax credit. That's secondary to the balance of supply and demand (which is the main correlation to pricing movements).

That’s not my understanding. If they make fsd mandatory it’s part of the purchase price and goes over the $80k limit. If they make it optional, then it’s exempt from the limit. As I said, all they have to do is prioritize delivery for fsd purchasers and they get all that margin upfront. And the customers get the tax credit upfront- win win.

what nobody knows for sure is whether CT even qualifies for the tax credit- especially next year after the election/ with stricter domestic battery requirements. Soon after the ct launch, Tesla queitly removed the $7500 portion from the ā€˜probable savings’. This could have been to sell more FS now or could have been for factual reasons or both.

It is a good argument but Tesla itself told everyone when the IRA was first implemented that FSD was not included in the purchase price. So your argument would mean that they had 2 different definitions for FSD for purchasing, and that could raise legal issues for them, both with customers and with the government. It doesn't matter for me because I do not qualify for the IRA rebate one way or another; I am just interested in what it turns out to be.

I went to that link you provided (because I qualify) but it was a garbage page. Not your fault but something weird going on with the Tesla site.
I do not what was going on when I first went to that page but I found another way to get there and it was fine. Maybe it was my browser. Maybe something else. But I did get to submit in the end. I took a picture of the page I originally got. If it wasn't so bizarre I'd have tried to explain it here. It was like what used to happen in the old days when a page wouldn't render you would get the text version of the page, only it was enlarged like a 1000 percent and almost all I could see was two giant icons, one for a person and one for something else. Anyway, it clearly wasn't what I thought I would be seeing so I reported it here.
