Thinking "I have to sell it now" to prevent a loss, is the best way to lose the most. It's the principle that Pawn shops and the stock market works on. Find the people that need to sell now, and profit off of them. Hold on to it for 3 years, you'll be positive equity, you'll have saved in gas and vehicle maintenance, and you'll be driving one of the most fun cars to drive, ever. Then sell.

Looking at New York, the peak rate is about 35¢ per kilowatt; or 14¢ a mile. That's like my off peak rate! Of course, I get 100% renewable/solar from the grid but live in an expensive area.

Hmm... But NY average gas price is $3.13/gallon which is 26 mpg or 12¢ a mile. So... true there, I guess!

...However, a Cybertruck doesn't need oil every four months, an engine filter every other year, belts every few years, sparkplugs every fourth year? (Checking maintenance schedule for a 2025 F150 O-o.) Not to mention having to replace those brake pads more frequently since an ICE powered vehicle only has friction to do braking!

It'll work out in the end.

That's not true, even finding the most expensive supercharger rates I could find in NY, Its still cheaper than gas. Also If your only choice is supercharging, then you probably weren't ready for an electric car yet. Even then, it's still cheaper.

That's still only 16¢ a mile, and lower than me charging at peak rates.

Tho I see prices on Long Island are lower than the state average by quite a bit. Amazing. How do you guys pay for your roads and pollution mitigation with such low prices? Just eat the health costs? (No, don't answer. i know, it's just what it makes me think.)

But an Escalade would still cost at least 14¢ of mile in fuel, plus ICE maintenance. And pretty sure you'll find $2k ICE maintenance to make up the difference over five years.

Right, still shows you saved about $120. That’s fuel alone. Like @Crissa said, there is a lot of other maintenance and upkeep to consider as well.

What's a lie, tho? It's an estimate of one of many variables.

It's true, an EV truck isn't always cheaper - with things like high prices to get people to work on it (the Tesla tax) and registration... It's very easy to forget that things like air filters and brakes and whatnot which over years will raise the ICE price.

An EV will never fail the emissions test and need repairs for that.

It says "April" because you are showing the rolling 12-month period.

Any way you can install a home charger? Then you would have lower charging costs— see my 12 month Model Y below. Good luck with your decisions!

Yeah, you should probably sell and get a gas car. EVs are not for you if 88% of your charging is Level 3.
