Before I bought my Y Model a few years ago, I had prepped my garage for it with a level II charger.
I have a 15KW solar panel system which is still under warranty. I could wire the charger myself but I was concerned about voiding the warranty.
I bought the Tesla charging unit on-line then put out a solicitation for bids to install it to about 20 electricians in the surrounding area.
A few responded with a quote without even coming to my house.
Some never responded at all.
11 did respond and sent a rep to survey the job. The breaker boxes were right next to where I wanted the unit installed and I removed the drywall in advance. The material in addition to the charger was; 5' of conduit, 10' of 12 gauge wire, a 60amp breaker and a few conduit clamps.
The range of bids from those who surveyed the job went from $320 - $3500. Nothing really to warranty the job other than the breaker.
I gave the job to the lowest bidder and he was able to do the job in about 10 minutes.

I had pictures of the pre-installation that I submitted with my solicitation. Can't find em now. Will keep looking.
I think the wire was 12 gauge. Could have been bigger.
The mobile charger ya get with the CT has a 240v plug to it.

New orders don't come with mobile connector anymore, it's an add on. Cybertruck order page has the normal one for $300 along with the Powershare version with the dual 120V outlet adapter for $380.

Yeah, a good quality 14-50 outlet will work with the Mobile Connector and get you 32A charging.
This is the setup I have. It uses very little space.

I got a box with the mobile connector in the lower bed of my CT when I picked it up last month, so they might be just throwing them in at random.

What it cost to install a 240v power source or did your garage already have 1.
I already had one. A recent remodel left an old dryer plug unused, which shared a wall with the garage. For $300 I had an electrician simply move it to the other side of the wall.

You had ELEVEN companies come to your house for estimates? Don't have to look at your profile to know you're retired! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It’s been over 18 months ago when I had my Tesla level two charger installed and direct wired to a 60 amp circuit that allows the Tesla charger to charge at a rate of 48 A. I also had the dryer plug available in my garage that I used for a welder however, the electrician stated the maximum I would get would be 32 A out of that which is probably OK for most charging but for a few bucks more I went with the direct wiring to the charger rather than going through a plug talk to your electricians before you do it and get some advice

Your WAY undersized on your cable. You said 12 gauge where it should be a minimum of 6/2. You could have saved the conduit by going with 6/2 MC. Also never use Romex cable to Wall Connectors.

Also for others reading this you should wire direct from the breaker panel to the Wall Connector. No intermediate J-boxes or anything, always direct - breaker to Wall Connector. Never wire to a plug and plug the Wall Connector into the plug. It's just another point of possible failure.

I had the one electrician I got direct from the Tesla website tell me he cant do it due to the complexity of our apartment buildings electrical system 😳
And I live in a townhouse out back with my own panel on the otherside of the wall I where the charger will be installed
