interesting. So they think every single one built in 2024 will fail? That's a lot of repairs. I would think they would have to do a recall if that's the case.
That’s the way he made it sound.

If my PCS were to fail outside the warranty period, I would push hard for a goodwill repair based on the seemingly high reported failure rate. Results are obviously going to vary based on SC, but if you have a good relationship with them, you stand a decent chance of at least getting the parts covered. Any TSB information would undoubtedly help there, even if your vehicle falls outside year/VIN ranges.

I think our best case here is Tesla extends the warranty on the PCS and offers a refund of the replacement cost to anyone who's had to pay to replace it. I personally wouldn't hold my breath on a recall, It's unlikely to reach the bar of a recall from NHTSA because the failure mode doesn't result in a loss of power while driving, but just an inability to charge/refuel.

Tesla typically tries to have two suppliers (or more) for every part to create a more robust supply chain. It could be that only PCS from one supplier have a high failure rate.

Yesterday, my next door neighbors had PCS failure on their 2024 Foundation AWD. Tesla sent a flatbed tow truck to their home to pick up the Cybertruck.

I told them not to worry, it would be fixed and good-to-do again.

Does anyone know what is the average time to repair?

Thanks,
Mine took just a few hours. Did in one afternoon.

They refused to replace mine praoactively.
Same here... opened a service ticket asking about the PCS and if we should be proactive and get that set up. They said there were no active recalls on that and they said they can't do it unless its failing.

UPDATE: they said they looked into the VIN and said mine was not one that ell into thier proactive category as they do not expect mine to fail.

UPDATE 2: Misspelled VIN and corrected.

I assume you meant VIN, what is your ~VIN?

I keep hearing this VIN excuse but we are setting the issue on VINs from 00xxx to 51xxx

Tesla has a digital record of every EV they have produced. They know which torque wrench tightened every bolt, which supplier supplied every PCS, etc. VIN "ranges" mean very little, it's all about the exact VIN number. The reason for this is that parts from various suppliers are interleaved on the production line (because the parts are considered functionally equivalent). It's only down the road that Tesla might identify a high failure rate in a part from a specific supplier. That's why they keep digital records of ever car ever built.

No, Tesla doesn't expect every PCS to eventuially fail, if they did they would recall all of them.

Just had mine fail last month out of nowhere after being parked for a few days, 6250 miles, 2024 AWD early FS 0075XX vin. (Apr 2024 delivery) Took them a few weeks for parts and was in for 3 days as also had the cantrail recall done along with PCS.

Yes...I meant VIN.

11XXX
Mine was 11xxx as well. May 2024 delivery, AWD, 33k miles when it went to 24/24 mode.

When I created the service ticket there was a line added by them "Cybertruck PCS2 Replacement"

PCS was replaced on 03/06/2026. They did it in one day.
