Standard AWD Wheels - What are you thinking?

Alright everyone, it’s been almost two months since the $59k flash sale. The orders have been placed and VINs have yet to be assigned so changes can still be made. I chose the standard steely wheels as I’m thinking of just using the truck as is for the time being and taking advantage of the discounted truck rubber for a while. Spending $2,500 for Core Wheels seems to put me halfway to getting a nice set of after market wheels and tires.

I will say the ultimate benefit of using Tesla wheels and tires is that if there is a tire incident and you need a quick replacement they should have what you need in stock and available. That’s nice peace of mind.

What are your plans for wheels and tires?

I just run standard 18" off-road wheels with a +18 offset on 35x12.5. Cheap, highly available everywhere (America's tire), and reliable. I got these tires for around $230 each, and I don't remember the wheel cost. I'm to rough on my tires to want to spend more than that lol

35k miles on these tires so far, zero issues. I was already having chunking and cracking on the stock stuff at this point.

I'm ok with the stock 18 inch wheels.....thought about the optional wheel/tires but rather have two years of FSD. Not to mention tires would be inexpensive to replace.

I also think the steelies give it a bit of an old school look, if that is even possible ;-)

I prefer 18” rims/tires. Better ride - especially without air suspension. Better traction to run at lower pressure when off-roading and more tire options. I may eventually replace the steel wheels with aftermarket. But really, no interest in the larger 20” wheels.

I'm keeping the 18" wheels. Better range and ride, less expensive replacement. Like the steelies. I don't do off road. It's a truck and a great one, it's meant to be used.

The only aftermarket wheels I would entertain purchasing are the 18” UP.FIT Forged PD HD wheels from Unplugged Performance.

$2400 for a set of 4 plus they MIGHT offer $1k for your OEM wheels.

Got some Atomic Wheels inbound. Went with the 18x9, AW-09s. Great company btw. Good CS and tossed in free ceramic coating.

question now is do I keep the Goodyear territory HTs or maybe go for the Nokian for a bit more aggressive look.

Do you have a picture from the side? I'd like to get an idea of how much poke the 18mm offset has compared to the factory 54.5mm. From that angle doesn't look too bad.

Agree, AW is a great company. I run a set of their 19" wheels on my M3P during the winter. I just wish they had more designs and colors for the CT. The set you bought looks great but that type of design would be a nightmare for my OCD to clean out all the nooks and crannies. Though the included ceramic coating would definitely help.
