My turn - PCS failure. How long will this take to get fixed?

Well, it’s my turn now. Plugged in last night and would only charge at 24 amps. Made an appointment and got confirmation within ten minutes.
How long is it taking to get parts and once they take my truck, how long is it taking for them to fix?
This is VERY inconvenient as I will have to drive one county over to charge now. I wouldn’t even own an EV all these years if I couldn’t charge at home.
And of course Tesla putting a service center near me has been cancelled three times.

I took a little over a month as mine was repaired this past week. The SC originally told me it was going to be a couple of weeks, but that quickly turned into a couple of months as PCS replacements became scarce. I was happily surprised when they called last week to schedule the replacement. Hopefully that means Tesla is beginning to play catch up.

I’ve been waiting 2 months already. Service appt in app says June 22, probably won’t have the truck anymore by then (trading in on ‘26 MY Performance because Tesla offered me payoff on the truck)

Question, if I may. Did you ask Tesla for a payoff or did they offer it? Also, was the PCS failure your only problem or were there others as well? I’m just curious. I love my CTB, but if problems like this continue to plague the CTs I might go ahead and try to have Tesla give me my money and do what you’re doing.

Once my PCS failed I requested a quote and it was $400 less than payoff at the time, will be more than payoff by the delivery of the Y.

And there are a few other issues which are waiting parts availability. My truck VIN is in the 6000s, so there’s a few things which are early build issues for sure.

I’ll miss the truck, but after driving my wife’s 2026 Y Premium AWD, I’m 100% sold on it. And I miss the fun of driving my M3P (my daughter’s car now), and the price difference from the Premium to the Performance just makes the MYP the best car for the money IMO.

I’m also 6’5” so my days of a small sporty sedan are basically over with my knees and back

Someone posted on this forum about a trick to allowing you to charge at 24 A. It's something to do with the outlets in the back or something. They said they had a failure and they have been able to charge for some period of time now

im getting more nervous now. Nov 24 with 21k miles only charge 24A at home. How will I know if it fails lol. Maybe charging that low since day 1 will not break it. Not sure how much data is available for those charging using the dryer outlet.

there will be an alert on the screen lac charging unavailable when it completely dies. But if it’s starting to die, there will be an alert in the service mode with a PCS2 code. You can test it by going to a hotel near you with a wall charger. Mine died at 72k miles so I ended up paying for it out of pocket. 6k$. Prolly want it to fail while in warranty. Rev G is the current part they are putting in. You can see what part you build has via somewhere on the Tesla parts website. There’s a link somewhere on this forum for that.

I think a recall is highly likely now but also Tesla has been offering 1k goodwill price so not a big deal. Just really curious if home charging at only 24A protects it though using the outlets also overload it so prob need to try that soon with my portable fridge.
