Why are 15,000 mile CT’s selling for MSRP on Carvana?

What’s the logic in used 2025 and 2024 CT’s selling for the same price a 2026 models? Every once and awhile I check Carvana and all the CT’s are always pending sale at near MSRP with 10,000 plus miles.

As crazy as it is I think people still think they cost $100k

My neighbor was looking at my AWD just yesterday and we were talking about it, he said “they are still over $100k new, right?” This is a common thing I hear from others along with the depreciation stuff……ironically I told him mine is worth more trade in now than the price paid after rebates, etc from almost a year and a half ago

And he owned a model s a few years back

Because Carvana delivers a fast & pain-free buying experience whereas Tesla Delivery Centers, even after customers completed all financing and legal documents online, can't get purchased cars to buyers without pissing them off!

It appears there is a market bubble right now for CT's. Yesterday Tesla offered $69.5k to trade in my '25 CT with 19k miles. I only paid $72.5 brand new in March 2025 (with POS tax credit, no longer available), so it would have "cost" only $3k to own and drive the truck for 15 months and 19k miles - quite the deal. While the retained value seems crazy, and I am tempted given the new warranty that cover the PCS and some other stuff, it would still require a check of about $11k to upgrade to an equivalent zero miles truck (premium AWD). The warranty benefit is nice, but it doesn't solve my towing problem (range), and given rumors of both an upcoming HW5 processor, and the new battery format possibly increasing range, both likely by year end, I'm rolling the dice and waiting for a '27. Of course by then the supply price bubble will likely dissipate and the trade offer will be lower. Getting more range is my priority, and the trade hassle/friction (wrap, etc.) keeps me on the sideline for now.

Bubble has been there for over a year, I haven’t seen many used cybertrucks under 70k for the last couple years which has been pretty shocking given that they were selling in the upper 60’s-low 70’s new back in late 2024-2025 so maybe it will continue for a bit longer…..my trade in recently has been between 68-70k which is a similar free to low profit 17 months for my CT

Humm ... I have purchased new and used vehicles from Tesla. Never had one problem in 5 distinct transactions.

Due to order backlog and the low production numbers of new units, used Cybertruck's are filling the demand. That is the essence of supply and demand in the marketplace but conspiracy theories are way more fun that facts.

My wife and I have bought 4 new Tesla from Tesla. We have no idea what you are talking about, every purchase from Tesla was far easier, less stressful and less time consuming than ANY purchase from a traditional auto dealer. I'm sure a few people have been pissed off due to a delay in getting their new car from Tesla, but it's the exception, not the rule. Most sales go off without a hitch worth mentioning.

Lifetime FSD and immediate delivery are probably big motivators for people paying MSRP for Cybertrucks. You can't even get lifetime FSD anymore and I suspect sales of CTs with lifetime FSD are helping buoy sale prices of those without, due to some buyers being ignorant of the value of lifetime FSD.

+1 I was watching the used prices last year 2025, when the Cybertruck was probably most unpopular. Cargurus had many in the $60s. I think more people finally learn and experience its positive features, and demand had gone up from it seems.

I've bought three, tried and failed three more times. Simplist thing in the world, handing an already financed car to the buyer, right? Not for the clueless retards at Atlanta area "delivery centers", though. But they look good-- young, multiracial-- that's what matters, right?

Addendum: Last attempt was in Savannah, that "delivery center" had no humans working there on the last day of the recent "free supercharging for a year" program.

It's gas prices. All Tesla vehicles went up in value after gas prices shot up. I don't see a different public opinion cybertruck at all. My model x shot way up in value after they discontinued it and gas prices were insane. I sold that real quick and got a used cybertruck.

It's so funny going on some youtube video comments and car forums; people out there think CT resale has dropped so low you can pickup one for $30K. Most people are totally clueless and just go with the herd.

Offering the Foundation Series for that long ended up being a huge misstep. It did a number on public perception.
