What’s y’all’s response to HOW MUCH DID THAT COST

It depends on who's asking, but I generally laugh and say "Too much." If it's an adult, often driving a nice pickup, and seems interested I am willing to go into all the details. I have told some that coming from a 25-year-old F-150 it was a bit of a jump. I do tell those who want to chat that they will be getting cheaper fairly quickly after the first year or so, but I am too old to wait. ?

I know have saved this to "Favorites" in photos on my phone.
Not my picture but it definitely gets a laugh and makes them drop the subject. And of course I only show this when it is appropriate.

I do admit that my social battery is running low as I have had several people follow me into my work parking lot and that is a bit intrusive. On the other hand I had the CFO come find me last Friday and ask for a tour and offered to buy lunch when I told him "be happy to during my lunch hour sir." One of the best Jalapeno Double Cheeseburgers I have ever had.

Manufacturers don't count tax, license, title and destination, when they quote the price of their new cars, so you shouldn't either! People are not used to those things being counted when comparing vehicle prices. I wouldn't even count options like FSD and Foundation Series badging and accessories, because people don't expect to get that in the quoted price.

Too funny. Yes - quite a conundrum to tell someone the truth on this. "I got shafted for $108k after tax and no EV rebate...and no - my shiny car has no paint job and no spare tire (real good for off roading ).

If you're off roading, why would you want the standard spare? You'd want a gate or hitch or bed mount designed to stay safe and easily accessible.

While you're not off roading, why waste the weight and aero?

Seems like trolling to me.

I'm a little iffy about saying 60k when none of those have been delivered. It's like the Silverado and Lightning's 40k price that no, you can't have, it's only for special buyers.

But saying 80k but with 20k of mandatory options seems decent.

I used the ”they start at $60k” when the car next to me asked. Worked great and they can figure the rest out later
