Like you I just got my email to configure my CT. I wasn’t expecting it till the end of the year or at least close to it. I have two dilemmas. First, I just got into my Merc EQS SUV about a year ago. Have only about 20K on it. Was hoping to put more miles before trading it in for CT. Lots of posts said it will be awhile before you get it once you configure it. However, knowing my luck, I will get an email in a week to come pick it up. Second, I was hoping for the NFS. Yeah I won’t get all the bells and whistles. But honestly, I really won’t use nor care for some accessories or even FSD. I like to drive and not have the car drive for me. Maybe autopilot to keep me in the lane. Furthermore, paying an extra $20K? That’s a lot of Benjamin’s to bite. When you know once the FS ends that’s an immediate depreciation of $20K. So, may I ask people here what would you do? Also, what’s my options here? If I ignore the email and not configure my CT do I lose my position?

At this point it looks like they are going to milk every reservation for the FS limited edition. Why not, right? Sure try to get as much as you can when you dumped so much into getting the truck produced, but Tesla and the CT are having some very bad publicity and sales are slowing on other models so maybe a normal priced CT would brighten the mood. But I don’t think Elon actually gets that.
It's actually the opposite.

Because sales are slowing down due to interest rate, it makes sense for Tesla to allow FS Cybertrucks to anyone who wants it. This is a smart move on their part as it maximizes their revenue *and* affords an opportunity to a buyer.

I am RN 1145xxx and I'd love to get the opportunity to buy the FS Cybertruck.

I am curious of the same thing. I've heard people configure and put on hold. I've heard others ignore the email. Not sure which reserves our place in line.

Have you read all the good news about it?
Yeah, I also heard many good reviews, but the bad ones made me very concerned. For example, there was a report about a sharp edge causing a wrist cut injury during delivery, which required an ER visit. I have a few small kids, and their safety is a major concern for me. That's why I've been debating whether to wait or get something else. Some influential YouTubers, like 'TheSmokingFire,' also complained about their Cybertruck and said it's not worth $100k.

Safety is the #1 priority for me and my family. That's why I'm waiting to see if Tesla is going to do anything w CT sharp edges.

Unless you seriously want the FS there is no need to jump to configure. So far, the invitation just waits there until you decide to use it. Eventually it will let you configure a non-FS.

If you can't see through the TheSmokingTire hit piece you probably shouldn't be ordering a Cybertruck. You can scrape the skin off a cucumber with a quarter. Unless quality control let a burr or rough edges slip through, the panel edges are not sharp, so you should double-check them and have them correct any that are. When properly finished they are smoother and less sharp than a Lego, but if you worry those are too dangerous for the kiddies then probably you might not want the Cybertruck either until they get a bit older.

How do you deal with "safety" of your young kids at home in the kitchen when they can play with knives?

I think it's more to do with teaching your kids about being careful than anything else. I personally wouldn't be concerned and I also have kids.

I love Matt Farah, in fact I know him personally and he even reviewed one of my cars on his YouTube channel. No, we are not great or close friends, just know each other.

But he's a Tesla and Elon hater to the core. He knows it, and will tell you that to your face. He hated the CT from the moment it was introduced. He'll always hate it, and hate everything Tesla does. It's no secret. This video was made out of hatred for the brand more than anything and I wouldn't take it seriously at all. He's the very last person you want to listen to criticism from, trust me.
