One thing confuses me a little... that page says that any version of HPWC is fine... however a post at the top of this thread suggested that the HPWC needs to communicate via a cable/port that an early HPWC doesn't have?

Others have been told that systems like your will be enabled toward the end of the year.

Comm wire won't be required as system will use power line communication.

The installer told me that to test the gateway, you open the front panel and flip off the 200A breaker inside. This disconnects the gateway from the grid manually and should result in the truck powering the house. I can’t prove this as PowerShare isn’t software activated yet. But, if you did want to go off grid manually this seems like an option.
Yes, I did flip my main at the meter to test it. It sounds like your installation will be a little different if the main breaker is installed inside the gateway. My main is upstream at the meter on the side of the house. My gateway is installed between the main/meter and my breaker box.

I have the powershare gateway installed and working in my house. Here are the details and my timeline:

Dec 26: Ordered AWD truck
Within a week I got the powershare questionnaire to determine if I could get the equipment. I'm in GA and later I got an email saying I'm a candidate for powershare.

In early March the approved local electrician emailed and scheduled a site survey of my house. Quote was approximately $3500 (final cost $3850). All equipment was shipped directly to the electrician.
Apr 5: VIN Assigned
Apr 8: Original delivery scheduled
Apr 5 at 2030 at night. Pedalgate started and I received the vague text from Tesla HQ saying my truck would not be ready for delivery.
Apr 20: Delivery finally rescheduled for Apr 27
Apr 27: Delivery day with no issues on the truck.
May 6: Powershare gateway and universal wall connector installed
May 8: New Powershare Banner appeared in the Tesla phone app showing details and how it works.

I ignored the banner add in the app for one day and then realized it showed how to enable Powershare in the app or in the vehicle. It is enabled in the app on the controls section after swiping up from the bottom. In the truck it in on the charging page.

I plugged in my truck and turned off the main breaker at the meter. Immediately I got a phone notification and powershare powered the house in less than a second. I powered the house for about 30 minutes including cycling an AC unit off/on several times without issue.

When I turned the main breaker back on I got a phone notification that grid power was restored and powershare would stop in 5 minutes. Exactly 5 minutes later the powershare stopped with less than a second blink of the lights.

During installation I asked about hard wiring the internet connection. The installer had never tried to use ethernet. I found two ethernet ports on the gateway and plugged ethernet into the left port. It worked connected to my network showing a hard wired network connection during the installation.

The Universal Wall Connector is connected to the Gateway with a data wire for communications with the truck. The Gateway functions as an extension bus to your main panel allowing more circuits to be added inside the gateway. My new Universal Charger breaker was added inside the gateway while my original Gen 2 Wall connector is in my main breaker panel. Both are on 60 amp circuits.

The approved installers use an app called Tesla One. You can download the app and add an account as an "external user" or some other choice besides certified installer. This allows you to see all the setup steps and the provisioning of the gateway.

Here is a link to an album with a video showing the truck and some screen shots of the Tesla android app...enjoy

Hold up. Your powershare software is enabled in your truck!?!? What version are you on? I have powerwalls, so supposedly all I'm waiting for is the software to be enabled!

I don’t think mine is different. I assume you should have a main breaker in your breaker box. This would shut off all breakers in the box. Then you have a shutoff on the meter that disables even that main breaker in the box. The gateway goes between the meter and breaker box and contains its own 200amp breaker. I assume the breaker inside the gateway isolates the whole system from the meter. When you flip the breaker inside the gateway, it cuts power to your box and whole house. Similar to if you shut off at the meter. If PowerShare was enabled, the gateway would detect the outage from the meter/grid and start pulling power from the truck into your breaker box.

Talking to my installer, he says my system is weird. I have a disconnect downstream of the meter with a 200 A breaker.... emergency services can disconnect power to my house. I think this is a requirement now. I staller noted that I also have a 200 amp breaker in my main service panel. Kind of redundant?

Anyway....he said the 3V gateway would replace the current exterior disconnect. I think that is where neutral and ground are combined. In my main panel neutral and ground should be separate.

My system is simple (Meter > Gateway 3V > Main Panel in series)
1) Meter has the only 200 amp breaker on the outside of my house
2) Gateway 3V (no 200 amp breaker, only a 60 amp for my universal wall connector). This is installed in my basement next to my main breaker panel.
3) Main breaker panel (no 200 amp breaker in panel)

I just got my PowerShare system installed yesterday. Took about 8 hours but there was some wiring that needed to be rerouted between the panel and sub-panel so that added extra time. $3,600 total cost. Everything works great but I still don’t have the Powershare button on the charging screen of the truck. I have the latest 2024.14.7 V12 software so I’m not sure when that button is going to show up so I can actually try the system out. Anyone have the PowerShare button available that can share what software version they are on? I’ve seen it on a couple YouTube vids.

I got my truck at the end of April and was finally able to schedule the appointment. There was a crew that came out to take pics/measurements a week ago before the actual install appointment.

I had my PowerShare gateway and UWC installed last week and I had the same situation where PowerShare wasn't showing up in my Tesla app or the Charging section of my CT UI, and I have the same software version as you. I called Tesla and spoke to support, this seems to be happening to a lot of people. It took about a day with a few back and forth calls/emails, and one screen reset using the two scroll wheels on the squircle to get it to show up. I have no idea if the reset did it or something they were able to do on the back-end, but it's all working now.

Thank you for the reply! I’ll try the screen reset first then give Tesla a call.

I think it takes a day or two after the installation before Tesla enables it on the backend. I don't think you need to reach out. It will appear...

I do not have powerwalls or solar. Just the powershare....my brother-in-law is in Red Bank. Ben Gibb.

Cheers!
That's cool, I currently run 29K in solar, with 3 power walls, and One wind turbine. He might be one of my honey customers ? I'm on the West Side of Red Bank.. DHL pilot here
