Except you are not able to stop the garage door halfway, that's my biggest pet peeve about it. It's better in the sense that you know for a fact if you left the garage open or closed and you can close it remotely, etc. However, if it starts closing on you by mistake, you better get your truck out of the way because it will get crushed by the garage door, there's no way to stop it from the car. Maybe I'm dumb and I haven't figured it out but I had a separate thread about this and everybody agreed that there's no way to stop the garage door once it's opening or closing , you have to wait for it to fully open or fully close before activating MyQ on the Cyber truck again.
Modern garage doors are supposed to have optical sensors around ankle height to reverse or inhibit closing if obstructed and force sensors to reverse if contact is made prematurely — regardless of activation method.

I have the MyQ subscription for garage opener- works ok most of the time. Homelink worked way better on my former M3. It’s not the CT it’s absolutely the MyQ app and opener as the app on its own acts dopey and looses comms with the opener. Offline errors occur on the app and on the CT
The key in your statement is that it works "Most" of the time. I had MyQ it sucks. Since it requires internet and a paid subscription. If your ISP has issues or their service breaks. Your door won't open it happened to me several times. The most likely time for failure is a storm and standing out in the rain to punch in a door code is not what I want to pay for. I have a battery backup door opener so power would not be an issue for those ready to jump on me:) I refuse to pay for a service that mostly works. I really hope Homelink comes soon.

Just say "No" to subscriptions on appliances - for any price. This is evil incarnate. Next it will be your toaster. There is a nice, out-of-sight but within reach, spot on the front of the center console where you can mount your old-school clicker. Works great. Once Tesla or someone else offers an integrated option (without a monthly service fee) I will switch.

On my model 3, MyQ always caused the garage door to beep when going down (safety thing, I know). I was excited when I got my CT that this beeping did not happen. Now, after several software updates, MyQ causes the garage door to beep about 80% of the time. Is there a way to prevent this? Why doesn't it beep 20% of the time?
as I understand- if the GPS position of the vehicle is known to MyQ then there is no safety beep close- it just closes.

I agree- I’ve been in that situation already.. it stinks. I messed with the MyQ app settings and MyQ got its act together and started working. The ISP hardware is behind a powerwall home backup and always stays connected during the power transfers . Also there is a hardwired WAP right next to the opener so there should be no connectivity issues at all- but there is… so that leads me to suspect the crummy MyQ software

We all know that. However, it would be convenient for you to have the option to stop your garage door from opening all the way or close and all the way before you can reverse the function, homelink provides that functionality which is the simplest of all, just like a regular remote. I don't know if you are trying to be difficult, but you know that the sensor is not the most convenient in all situations. For example, if your car is not fully parked inside the garage and it closes the garage door accidentally as it often does then your car is going to get crushed unless you get out of the car fast enough to go activate the sensor with your foot. That's just one scenario.

Move or add an additional set of sensors at vehicle height. Problem solved.

I did that at my last house because of Homelink. My wife was pulling in as I drove up and my Homelink signal was sent, which this time caused the door to close on her.

MyQ won't do that. It sends open or close commands, not "just do it" commands.

Same difference, it sends a signal nonetheless. For example If I'm parked in the driveway instead of the garage and I leave the house, it'll send a signal and open the garage door as I'm leaving, I then have to park on the street, wait for it to fully open And then close it. I can't just drive away because the MyQ icon disappears as you drive away from the house. How does the sensor help you with that? What I'm asking is a very simple functionality, if I open the garage door by mistake, I want to stop it before it opens and reverse the function or vice versa. I don't know what is so complicated about that.

HomeLink does NOT send a signal to open the door or close the door, at least the HomeLinks that I've used for years. You press one button and it send a "do something" to the opener.
MyQ sends an open command or a close command, not a "do something" command.

If you are pulling away from the house, MyQ won't send an open command, just a close.
And when it does, I can monitor the icon in the truck and see that it "closing" and eventually closed. This does appear on my HomeLink cars.

I believe that the MyQ functionality is still there, you just have to go into the setting to find it. And I'm pretty sure that you can close it from 500 miles away. From the car as well as the mobile app.

Yes, MyQ has a mobile app, I don't remember tis for HomeLink. My garage door happens to be open right now, as per the app, but I can't see the door from where I'm at.

Now it may be that if you are using a MyQ adapter to talk to an opener that isn't MyQ aware, that it is indeed only emulating and "do something" switch closure.

But with a MyQ door opener, I can see if the door is open or closed. My Homelink never had the capability.

In my HomeLink Teslas, all I have is a button to push. It doesn't say open or close, just a button.

On my Cybertruck, the button is label Open if it seen to be closed and Close if it is open.

This is getting really exhausting. All I'm saying is I want to have the option to stop the garage door halfway if it opens or closes accidentally or if I do it accidentally. You say I just have to go on the settings and find it. Maybe I'm stupid, let me know if you find a way to do it on your settings because I can't

Yes, you are also missing my point, the probability that it happens is really low, unlike HomeLink, which is really high.

And you can always put an opener in the truck for your emergency use.
FYI, the HomeLink button doesn't recycle that fast either.

But, I will guarantee you, no HomeLink in the Cybertruck, complain all you want. Neither the mount nor wiring nor electronics are there.
