It's not preposterous, it's obvious. They don't know what the exact percentage will be of Cybertrucks that will never use the crossbar mounting points, but they know it's a low number. What's preposterous is thinking it might be a high number.I don’t have any problem with Tesla making money on it I’m just suggesting to you that “they know” is preposterous.
Get with the program.
It's obvious that this change speeds production and lowers costs, just like when Tesla discovered very few people were ever activating the passenger seat lumbar control on the Models 3 and Y, and they removed it to save on costs. In this case, it also increases profits when someone orders the trim piece with cutouts in it.Wether this is about efficiency cost cutting nefariousness or whatever, my question remains if you don’t know it’s there because there’s no hint given by the new appliqué and this isn’t advertised, how would you know? I guess it’s going to be up to third-party folks to tell people that the mounting hardware is there? That really seems counterproductive even if the idea is to just let people pay for it as an add-on.
None of this should be a mystery to anyone. It's obvious.
