Yes I agree, 500 miles is a must especially if you want to tow antyhing. I have had my model 3 since June of 2018 and I agree with the other posters in that tesla keeps a good bit of mileage on reseve as when I first got the M3, there were a couple of times that I was driving on red with "0" on the percent charge. When I first got the M3, the algorithm for mileage wasn't very accurate. As I live in the country in Ontario, Canada with few superchargers, I learned to adapt by charging my car so that I would end up with at least 20% charge at my next destination. When I actually got there I would usually have less than 10%

Fast forward to today, i just went on a 100 mile drive and the algorithm is now so improved, it predicted within 1 or 2% what my charge would be when I got to were I was going (I made it home with 5% charge- no worries). Also, even though I am at least 2 hours from Toronto, there is now a supercharger 30 minutes north of me and 30 minutes south of me- just 2 examples of the continual improvements at Tesla!

put in 1500kg of water in a tank in the back and drive down you'll get 24kWh back
That is interesting…liquid energy density at work if water was free. Always pump it off into stream at bottom. Riparian water rights intact!

There are some electric mine trucks (huge monsters) that haul ore down from a mountain. They are fully self-charging, as they go up empty.

I don't plan to tow, but 500mile range is must for me. After 3.5+ years of experience with LR Model 3. EV with 310miles range is not a go anywhere vehicle. Especially range drop 20+% in winter(only turn on heat seat).

Did it ever occur to you that maybe he doesn't actually think he's better than you but that you just think he's thinking that?
He drains the company time and money by watching YouTube non-stop except for A) lunch breaks and B) to buy more filament or print more 3d printed toys and gadgets all day and C) to stop by everyone's cubicle during the hours of 10 and 12 to break the little amount of concentration they have to chit-chat while flexing about something ( to the warehouse crew, its usually his degree, and several of them have come to me telling me how bad they want to kick his ass; the president told me he's on the chopping block 🤞
)

Allow me to clarify: I don't think he's better than me; I KNOW he's better than me :sneaky:

I do. I thought I said that. TVs are not work usable, but I do use ours for classes and YouTube.
My spouse uses a 5k at work, but the 4k is way big enough if you ask me. Just park a chair and desk in front of it. ^-^

What's the point of a big screen if you don't use it?

And no, I didn't know penrose. I'm really bad with names.

I'd take a 5k but there's not many around, and you need a fairly beefy setup/graphics card to drive them at high refresh rates (120hz). The 40-43" size is due to having the right pixel density to replace 4x 1080p 24" monitors, for CAD use, but without bezels. That way you can setup different plan views and make sure you are doing it in 3D properly.

But it is also indispensable for spreadsheets/RE simulators/browsing/research/VPS/automation without having to switch around. I normally run 2-3 desktops at the same time, have 50-100tabs open (with a manger). I often also play some informative youtube clips at the same time in a little window as I seem to have some input channels left whilst doing paperwork/documentation on full auto. (I spool up a VPS for clients and put most of my documentation on bookstack). I have a XPS15 as a notebook, a 12mm Yoga 13" for travelling barebones and my Tab S7 for everything else my Note won't do.

BTW using a TV as a dedicated monitor is not at all the same experience or quality, let alone refresh, even though OLED ones are better, they don't like having hours put on them.

In all seriousness though, you can never be too rich, too thin, or have enough range. There's a 500-mile Cybertruck coming, but maybe not right away.

From watching Tesla's "Battery Day" and reading between the lines, Elon's counting on the 4680 having much greater energy density, and it's not there yet. For instance, they are not yet using silicon in the electrodes. But the 4680 is still ramping up, so I believe it's only a matter of time.

Here's a few things to keep in mind:
  • Tesla already has 30,000+ SuC stalls, and is adding 500-1000 per month.
  • Tesla now sells a CCS-Combo Adapter, allowing charging at many 3rd-party stations.
  • The IRA law will increase growth of charging stations even further.
  • By the time you get your CyberTruck, the kids will be in college anyway.
I've got 1 Sr in college, 1 grad in grad school, 1 Jr in High School and 1 boy in Middle and I've got a son who'e more a lump on one of my couches, 2 dogs and my Spouse. And yes the chances of having at least 1 around when the Cyber T shows up,

So I work with a guy near my cubicle who likes to rub it in your face that he's better than you because he drinks Chai Lattes, drives a Subaru, recycles, and listens to NPR. Recently, he bought a Macbook Pro 14". When I asked him if he liked it, he replied with his nose in the air "hmm, yea, hmm could be a bit bigger, yea, hmm".

I mention this dipshit because while I may agree with him that the laptop could be a bit bigger, the choice between a 14" and 16" screen walks a fine line between objectivity and subjectivity; you can live with a 14 inch macbook pro.

NOT. RANGE.

I got back yesterday after taking the wife and 2 and 4 yo to Panama City in the MYP (nah no nose in the air for me - I wish I could've taken all of ya and drank beer together!).

We were on our last supercharger with 198 miles left to go. With the help of my screaming 2 year old "daddy - drive-home! WAA! CAR-NOW-HOME!" I decided to cut the charger at 269 miles saving us an additional 20 minutes of screaming hell at 1 in the morning.

The range anxiety thing is no joke. Yes, I admit whole-heartedly that I have a heavy foot with the not-so-long-range edition, but I wasn't gunning it, and I ended up going from 78 for 10 minutes to 70 and got behind a truck to make it home (see attached).

That's right - I had 3 miles of range left. HOLY F$%#!

The problem is we're so damn used to gas stations everywhere that we take them for granted. I absolutely love this car, and I'm keeping this car, but I want to offer up some free perspective: even with a 350kw supercharger (which might not be immediately available), you need a large battery capacity to charge up to 70%+, you need the flexibility to drive into the woods or carry heavy/high drag coefficient loads without range anxiety, and if you think you aren't going to see a supercharger ever in your life like I did because you want to treat your truck as a commuter, then you better hope you're right - life is full of unknowns.

Whatever the price difference ends up being, if you can, buy the 500 mile range model. It might be a stretch, but I'm telling ya, you'll have peace of mind in the long run.

Please excuse any errors and brevity - I'm still tired AF.

i live in Sarasota FL with family down in Miami. I am constantly taking trips down a couple times a month to visit them. There should def be a 500 mile variant as this would solve ALL my range anxiety and allow me to run free on 75 without worrying about range. i dont NEED a truck but love the look of it so much its going to just be my daily. would be great to only have to charge maybe once a week. i also sure hope the truck has a white interior option
