Why do you say that? There aren't gas stations everywhere in the north. They're rarer than outlets.

And if you think ICE highway range doesn't go down in the winter, you're suspiciously not watching your mileage.

I'm sorry but you clearly don't know what you are talking about.

Yep, this one:

Ahh, right.

Thanks. I had to drop from his Patreon because he was sharing some bigoted memes.

Anyhow, my point was there's no reason to think Panasonic won't have the same troubles Tesla did in making the 4680, and have to take time to learn how to apply the chemistry to a larger cell. See 8:30 in the video.

I'm only on page 2 so sorry if this has been discussed.

It doesn't make sense for Tesla to design the truck for the 1%ers. Elon has even said that most of the time people do not utilize the full range of their vehicle.

So, to save money, to save batteries, and to maximize profits it makes sense to make the vehicles only with the miles of range needed.

For someone with a fleet of trucks who constantly tows it makes sense to make a trailer with batteries incorporated so that they can have the extra range they need. That way, the people who want extra range can pay for it, and everyone else can get what they need.
Will see whichh one of 3 "promised" trucks will be the most popular. Something tells me it will be 1%ers 500mi.

I think the initial split was something like 50% wanted dual, 5% wanted single and 45% wants tri motor.

If charging times are as good as it sounds, I suspect the dual motor will take at least half the orders. The $20k difference in pricing is huge for a lot of people.

I don't think 500 miles range is necessary for your daily driver for commuting, especially if you have home charging, 300 actual miles is enough safety buffer for most daily use and occasional road trip.

500 miles for a work truck is absolutely necessary imo. Especially when you can't fit the truck in a garage.

400 miles is fine for a heavy truck that is just used for commuting.

I’m hoping I can fit the 75” high CT into my garage with a 74” high opening by using the air suspension to lower the truck by 1+”.

Have we heard any updates on this for the top spec and it being a reality?

GMC Dinali just announced their electric claiming 400 mile starting in 2024.

not sure if anyone has made a claim of 500 miles or close to that as Tesla has with CT.
No updates at all on Cybertruck. We still don't know which models will be produced, specs or prices. Hopefully we get that before 2023 is up. Check back in 9-10 months.

Wouldn't count on it unless they slightly shrink the production model. Fortunately it'll fit in my garage with 3 inches to spare.

I'm sorry too, because from what I've read over the years, if anyone knows what they're talking about, it's Crissa.

Charging a battery is fastest when you are below 50% state of charge.

If you have a 300 mile range battery, adding 250 miles of range, a lot of range will need to be added while you are quite far down the charging curve. If you have a 500 mile battery and add 250 miles, almost all of that charging is done below 50% state of charge when you can get much faster charging speeds.

If you have a 500 mile battery, you will spend the least time at the Superchargers.
That's AWESOME
I'm sticking to the previous numbers for the 'Mothership' QUAD having 175 kWh pack with a usable ~163.3 kWh giving 507 miles. It could happen.

I know this hypothetical is obvious, but for many owners, it may only mean waiting to charge once per month

IF driving 140m (225km) per week, and you have a solar tonneau

In a blink of an eye, the tech has gone from 720k 3.5" floppy to 10 meg hard drives.
In any case, that Solar Vault is for me the 'Game Charger' especially when in Outback Australia

If they can deliver 500 miles range with any config with a 175 kWh battery, that would be a market crusher. That would put the charging rate well over 1400 MPH with a 500 kW charger.
