yes, lots of folks with motorcycles/ATVs were understandably excited at the prospect of the combo of:

• adaptive air (to lower bed height)
• ramp
• 6.5’ bed (that in prototype appeared to be enormously wide)

and no doubt, that OG prototype was massive - and as a result the Ct appeared to be a perfect toy-hauler

but that Og prototype was only that

But I’m personally satisfied the production CT’s bed, where motorcycles and ATVs are concerned, will function as a 5.5’ bed. (E.g., the rearward slant of the bed’s bulkhead will meet the front tires/fenders at around 5.5’ in bed length.) Not everyone shares this view, of course. But I’m personally certain enough to at least say I’d be waiting on hands-on reviews before banking on the useable length of the bed for a given bit of cargo that depends on functional bed length.

But if I’m right, it would mean that - like with an F150 SCREW - some smaller motorcycles will fit diagonally with the tailgate up (or other Jinga configurations?, but many would require resting the rear wheel on the open tailgate, and any ATV would require tailgate open (and likely the usual tailgate-supporting hardware installed to pull it off safely).

as I talk that through, I realize another possible rationale for the possible deletion of the ramp. We’ve heard decent insider rumors that it was deleted because the cost and weight (and so range/payload effects) outweigh red anticipated utility. Those rationales overlap with the possibility that once the bed dimensions were finalized, they realized the bed size didn’t quite beg as much for a vehicle ramp anymore?

I also think it’s possible that the revised CT dimensions no longer made for appropriate angles for a tailgate ramp to be as useful for things with lower ground clearance. The geometry there maybe made for too steep a break over angle, given the limited possible length of the ramp?

which altogether for me is to say: if the production CyberTruck was such that the ramp would still be wildly useful, but Tesla decided against it on a lark, that would be irritating. Whereas is the real-world realities of the production CT meant that the ramp’s utility was significantly reduced, and counterbalanced by increased cost/decreased payload, etc., then I side with Tesla

Im getting a CT regardless of what it does/doesnt come with feature wise:
-- if it squats for bed loading - it's an improvement over my current truck for loading bikes
-- if it has a ramp, awesome, I dont have to have separate ones
--if it has none of the above I'll load it like a traditional truck as I have for 30 years
-- but at a min it does have underfed storage for tie downs and fork braces - winning!

and if a 500mi CT cant tow this for 200 miles then I'll keep my current truck too!

I just prefer to replace my current Truck and My M3P with a single bad ass vehicle that's better than both combined and can do it all! But I realize that's a tall order for my use cases so I'll make it work regardless!

Regardless of above - jazzed about:
--Stainless exterior - door dings and hail damage a thing of the past
--much more capable and comfortable suspension vs. a 2500HD
--more storage vs. current truck
--faster than my M3P by a hair and 1k more towing and payload than truck
-- better than 14mpg unloaded so works better than my truck for winter commute
--love Tesla tech, hoping a few more modes/farkles with CT off-road capability
--makes room in my garage where m3p sits so I can buy more toys (won't park truck there even if it fits)
--fit's in parking garage at work (current one is literally < 1/2" clearance - bit nerve racking)
--hopefully leverages my 80amp Gen 1 charger for fast charging
--I have a 6 seater now, but have never used 6th seat so no loss going to 5
--hopefully better tie down system - appears to be so
--lockable vault - nice!
-- hopefully enough exportable power to charge my ebikes and Stark Varg eMoto (comming in Sept) and maybe my 4kw RV bank if for some reason solar and generator issue - 30amp 220v would be awesome!
--air compressor for moto tires / trailer tires / truck tires - awesome vs. carrying separate
-- easier trailer loading (if it kneels, has better camera system)

Lots of reasons to own one even if doesn't come with 100% of everything that was shown / mentioned / speculated throughout is development

The 1st edition is going to be a lot different than originally viewed on all the media and as in all concept cars that I have seen in my past there are a lot of expectations that come with the pictures/media and sometimes things are crazy ideas and others a reality, hopefully the Tesla engineers are making the best decisions to produce an awesome vehicle that will be safe, reliable, useful, productive, affordable and with a cool factor that ultimately is a good investment to make us all happy about the long wait most of us have incurred.

I waited a long time to get my Bronco and being it's a 2021 model there are already some changes I see, but that cannot take away the fact that I have already had it and enjoyed it for almost 2 years already and really love the feeling that the engineers took their time thinking it out thoroughly and in the end I really think the wait was 100% worth it because the Bronco really is an awesome vehicle.

I am just venting a bit and trying to say:

When the Cybertruck is right in front of you on the road or you drive by one, the excitement will overpower you and the few complaints on here or in the media that ether have you worried or made you skeptical about whether you made the right decision to order one will diminish quickly and make you excited to get your Cybertruck forgetting about all the bad publicity that comes along with a great idea.

With all the negativity in the world going on around us the Cybertruck will the make haters laugh and the lovers Devious!


I really think since I started drawing cars with my #2 pencil over 50 years ago the Cybertruck that is easy to draw is going to change the way we all think about vehicles from now on.

I am trying to figure out how much of this is a joke and how much is something you actually care about. The only things in this list that were 'promised' are the 6th seat, the sail pillar storage, and the ramp, and the ramp may still be in the production vehicle. Elon confirmed the upper light bar a year ago, so that isn't a broken promise. Everything else on the list I am assuming is you joking around because you are bored or frustrated. I am seeing a lot of bored and frustrated comments on the CTOC and as much as they are completely understandable they don't improve my own state of mind at all. Seeing 9 CTs in the delivery lot is the kind of thing that improves my state of mind. Different people get their catharsis in different ways.

Lost my young golden pup in the back seat with windows down. Christmas morning pulling into the dog park. Mind you…

Never ever again with down windows. I miss Hendrix more than anyone will ever know, and it’s entirely my fault. He had a seat belt, he seemingly u buckled it.

Massive PSA, do not put the windows all the way down. Do not put your dog in the bed! Please please. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. It’s been almost 6 years, and I still think about it all the time.

Edit for pic. Long live the Drix. This was 4 days before he passed. We did this all the time.

Dog Mode is the only way to go when you leave the car. I am not sure what the best thing to do while moving is - for me the jury is still out. We still drive with the back seats down and the windows open just enough for the dog to get his head out. Losing a dog the way you describe makes me tear up.

There is no such thing as a 'decent inside rumor'. There is observation and there is everything else.

I think that you hit the nail on the head with "a pair of aluminum loading ramps are very cheap". I 'hate' carrying loading ramps around and having them slide around or otherwise take up space. I see no reason why having them in the tailgate isn't still possible, and there are other ways to make a ramp light and strong. I cannot see (in the case of Tesla in particular) cost being an issue when they made a pretty big deal about it in the unveiling. But we will see. I would find the ramp useful even if I only used it a few times a year, and having it on the truck all the time would be great.

Anyway, I know that you are just responding to the OPs 'broken promise' of the ramp and bed size, but we have no observable evidence that the ramp is no longer in the truck.

Yeah, I get. I just hate the idea of taking a crowbar to them mirrors. I do think they're kinda cool, but prefer the high-tech no-mirror look.

I am renting a KIA EV6 while my MYLR is getting fixed and I realized that I have become used to the side view cameras coming on when I use the turn signals and that I am using the side mirrors less and less. I still use them, but in the KIA I realize that I feel like one arm is tied behind my back; that I just don't have as much information as I need when making a lane change. Long story short, even if the Cybertruck has a digital view of the side I would probably keep the side mirrors on.

By the way, I have a LONG list of things I don't like about the KIA EV6. I miss the MYLR.

Why do people manage to bring up FSD in a negative light all the time? If you think you should be able to sleep in the bed while your car drives you to Las Vegas (or wherever) then it will be a long wait and a promise broken by every automaker that has tried it (and they have all been making similar promises). I turned on FSD for the first time the other day and it drove with near perfection on a route that it used to mess up all the time. I was pleasantly surprised. Like all things FSD has proponents and opponents. I go back and forth which side I am on but I still believe in Tesla's approach and that it is improving most of the time. I also do not recall FSD being a part of the original Cybertruck unveiling per se.

Is it a decision tree or a decision matrix that I have? Make up your mind, damn it FWIW I am not a computer and I do not have internal algorithms that I apply to every situation. I do not 'on board' information. Are you just experimenting with these terms or do you actually talk to people this way? If the latter it must be a lonely life you lead.

I reason mostly by common sense (or what passes for common sense in my mind). But you are right that I do not accept any word-of-mouth (in any form) as evidence of reality. Especially not these days when so many people have more reason to stretch the truth to get hits. I would provide a list of recent so-called 'verified' facts that were neither but it would be a long list and I do not want to drag people's names out. That doesn't mean that I disagree with people making reasonable predictions; I just don't confuse them with fact.
