I decided to wait for the non-foundation series.
Two reasons
1 - I've already played the pay and wait game to (even now) not get a non-beta FSD and I'm not willing to pay again to wait even longer. This is the majority of the extra $20k, so this one is the biggie. The fact that EM has already said that Cybertruck FSD isn't a priority for Tesla compounds this.
2 - There are just too many things not properly working, I'd rather have a more sorted truck.

I see a lot of furrowed brows and wringing of hands on this forum over whether or not it makes sense to take TSLA up on their Foundation Series offer. Isn't it so much more logical to wait a couple more years for better battery performance, functioning FSD, bugs to be worked out? Or, better yet, switch up our CT reservations to a new M3 or MY with all the price cuts and rebates.

I understand completely. The CT is a hard choice when attempting to insert logic into the equation. For me it is simpler than that: When I'm 80 my grandkids will stumble upon a picture of me standing next to my Cybertruck in 2024....

"You had one of those, Pop?! What was it like?"

Kind of like me seeing a picture of my Pop standing next to his new Corvette split-window coupe in 1963 - a car that people couldn't believe existed even when they saw it with their own eyes. Many of that car's shortcomings were fixed in future versions of the C2 Corvette.

But...there was only one moment in history people got to drive a new 1963 corvette down the street. And feel that feeling.

My grandpop could have shown me a picture of himself standing next to his new '63 Malibu (a very cool car, btw) and told me how much more logical a choice it was.

"That's cool, Pop. Can you pass the green beans?"

There's only one moment in history any of us will get to drive a new 2024 Cybertruck down the street. And feel that feeling.
Totally agree. Early adopters know what they are doing and why it’s worthwhile for many reasons :)

I got one of the early M3 in 2018, which isn't the same as a true early adopter who got a roadster or an early MS, but I still feel like an early adopter as the M3 was the vehicle that brought Tesla and BEV's into the public eye with the vision of mass adoption of EV's and the chance to change the course of history.

I can wait a little longer for a CT that meets my needs and my M3 is still running well and a great car.
Yep, same here. That was back in the day when you had to be a little careful about where you road trip. 6 years later and road tripping ain't a problem.

He also said that the HW4 platform wasn't a priority. But yet HW4 has it now.

Agree, seems a lot of people age 50+ are very open to Tesla technology, from FSD to Cybertruck.

One of the reasons may be that we were promised that we would have flying cars by the year 2000. The next best thing is to have a BEV!

Yeah, I had to drive on zero a couple of times and once I had to phone a private ski resort and they let me use their level two charger to get home. After that, especially in the winter, when I was charging I would make sure I had at lest 20% charge at my destination and when I got there it would be 5-10%.

Now the algorithm is right on, if it says you will have 10% charge at you destination it is within 1-2%

I live in rural Ontario, Canada and now I have a supercharger 30 minutes south of me and another one 30 minutes north of me.

Once I'm offered the chance to buy, and not required to by the FS, I am thinking of the AWD version. For me, although the range isn't ideal, it could be similar to my Rivian R1T, but less worry about dings/scratches which is what I really want most. I want to be able to go to beach, surf, camping and not worry so much about the exterior paint. We'll see though, I'm still not 100% on this yet...in the meantime, I'm really enjoying the R1T

So a common practice for trailer haulers to install in-bed gas tanks should be considered a band-aid?
Typically 8’ beds leaving 6’ usable….and not typically the trailer towers that use the bed tanks…think more for job related. My 6’ bed truck has 32g tank so no need for extra tank in my case and wouldnt give up usable bed for it….i need all 6’.

Sure many can use range extender, id like to but unfortunatly is would inhibit my other use case.

Good idea.

The AWD when charging at home is going to mean that you just don't worry about range or have to stop at those smelly gas stations.
If you are taking a road trip, the AWD Cybertruck will take you across the country with ease.

If you don't want FSD and the Powershare, there is very little reason to get the Foundation package. The remaining trucks will be here, I think, a lot quicker than some expect.

Absolutely, it may work for you, it may not. But everyone tends to think that a F-150 has no issues hauling anything across country, that's not quite true.

We didn’t have our first new car till we were in our 40’s. I never believed paying interest was a good thing. People wondering if they can afford this shouldn’t be buying it yet.
The economics way of looking at this is that you either
A) pay interest on a loan
B) "pay" interest by not earning interest on other investments you could do
C) X amount of a downpayment is a blend of A and B.
Obviously, there is a delta and that difference can be factored in.

yeah, easier to part with cash when it's not earning 5%+....but my compounding interest won't go 0-60 in 2.6s!

.... a voice in my head also says that the logic applies for several things in life - just wait for two more years, you might get something better - cars, cool toys, house, spouse .
....
Wait ...

She's out on the dance floor, gyrating, and looking my way, smiling eagerly....I should wait years something better might come along?

How to say "No way!" in twelve languages?

ChatGPT
Certainly! Here's how to say "No way!" in twelve different languages:
  1. Spanish: ¡De ninguna manera!
  2. French: Pas question!
  3. German: Auf keinen Fall!
  4. Italian: Assolutamente no!
  5. Portuguese: De jeito nenhum!
  6. Russian: Ни за что! (Ni za chto!)
  7. Japanese: まさか! (Masaka!)
  8. Chinese (Mandarin): 不可能!(Bù kěnéng!)
  9. Arabic: مستحيل! (Mustaheel!)
  10. Hindi: किसी भी तरह नहीं! (Kisee bhee tarah nahin!)
  11. Korean: 절대 아니야! (Jeoldae aniya!)
  12. Dutch: Geen sprake van!
Each of these expressions conveys a strong sense of disbelief or rejection, similar to "No way!" in English.

If I were in my early sixty’s or younger I’d wait a couple yrs The batteries and truck will be better and cheaper. I’m in my 70s so I need it NOW.
Yep that's me, questionable how many years I will be allowed to drive one so not willing to waste any. I've always budgeted my vehicle purchases over ten year lifespans, some have barely made it, some have lasted longer and provided surpluses. With the Cybertruck I am absolutely borrowing from future decades when I am very unlikely to be driving and needing a new car. ?‍♂

And will FSD be available by the time you really need it?
