That section in back looks pretty permanent, and it doesn’t look good for a midgate, bed access, or even a retractable window. Is that your read?
I think retractable window is possible here
Some version of how it would be possible - and again, largely motivated by the fact that between the alpha and beta prototypes the rear window was changed from being perpendicular to the ground, to instead angled backwards at roughly the same angle as the bed bulkhead

sketch obviously a cartoon (not a blueprint)

Seems possible, I guess we have to just wait and see what we get.

I will be surprised if the back window does not retract to allow access but more importantly to condition the air while sleeping in the vault.

I am still in denial stage thinking the red thing could be latch that moves and blue things could be hinge. Let me enjoy my pass-through dream a little longer.

It does appear, however, that there will be room (with that outward angle of the upper section) to recline the backseat against the frame. I love that the Model Y 2nd row seats recline and I hope the same is true for the CT.

this has been a key piece of my fascination with the bed bulkhead - seems possible the back seat could decline without it requiring the seat bottom to be slid forward (eg, choose legroom or recline)

huge plus, for us historical pickup truck drivers

Definitely great signs of progress.

Disappointing (or hard to believe) only to the CT creationists, who's mental model of progress goes:

[Fremont Pilot Line Beta] -> [GFTX Volume Production Line Unit]

for the non-creationists (though only as accurate as any model), we're apparently in the green arrow (AKA ~production validation)

I though CT was getting smaller. Are you sure direction of arrow is correct ;)

So it seems like this is no longer the plan:

tesla-cybertruck-s-structure-will-be-unique-according-to-sandy-munro.jpeg
It is but there are more stages and more '+' es. In fact this figure is impossible when you think about it because they have the castings and the battery in the lower picture, and the exoskeleton, the stampings, and even the seats in the upper picture. The current BIW we see has no battery or exoskeleton so it cannot hold itself together and requires a jig, so there are more steps that lead to a standalone BIW. The notion of BIW may not even be the same if they are putting this all together in GA.

That is exactly what you are seeing in those photos.
Really? I think what is confusing/throwing me off is in the photo, the wheel wells appear to be part of the "exoskeleton" (using Teslas word for it) whereas in the graphic I referenced (which I think also originally came from Tesla?), the wheel wells are clearly part of the casting attached to the structural megapack.

Looks like the entire frame including the castings was dipped for corrosion protection together. Probably helps with galvanic corrosion also between the aluminum, steel and stainless.
