The reality is the waiting list for the Cybertruck is so massive, the first 2+ years of production will be snapped up like blind squirrels falling into a pit full of cracked walnuts.
Wait… Am I a squirrel? Or a cracked walnut?

Might I suggest an airbag? Perhaps a seat belt?
After the previous incidents, perhaps a
helmet too. Just in general not necessarily while in the car.

I would be interested to see TRUE stats and data on this part of the discussion.. how many people who own F150 size trucks or bigger in the whole US, use it for what more than the cybertruck will offer? For me, it is absolutely perfect for what I need. The ability to tow a boat or cargo trailer rarely and mainly have cargo space for fun trips with the family (almost SUVish with the ability of a truck bed). I am not towing big 5th wheels often or ever. How many of the 100 thousands yearly are like me or like my true truck brethren?
Greater than 50%. As much as 40% of truck sales depending on vendor go to Fleet. Of the non fleet sales, depending on the survey 16-28% of people tow and do other things. Since the survey is not inclusive of fleet, to me that is indicating the majority of trucks on the road do work. As you move into super duty that number gets bigger when you factor super duty includes up to f750 for things like ambulances and box trucks so it becomes harder to differentiate.

I suspect the number will get higher as more folks work from home now and maybe are more ok with owning one vehicle as a utility vehicle. Which is where I’m at, I only use my f350 to tow and take long trips. My lightning drives 1.2 miles to get groceries.

That boat sailed when they built a 6' bed. real work trucks need bed volume, not 4 doors. We carry material and equipment, not people.

Rick
Does that somewhat depend on if you are the worker or the supervisor?

Tesla won’t but as things stand, Ford, GM and RAM are going to blow themselves out of the water unless they can get their costs down.
it’s almost like retooling a company is expensive. Apples to Oranges. Pivots are expensive and short lived. They are still sitting on a lot of cash and massively devalued stock. Their ability to raise money is there. Not everyone gets the luxury of having a cult followings and raising tech company levels of money and not having to worry about the cost of building or strikes.

If I am correct (?) it was going to be 3mm thick hardened stainless steel. Once they gave up on the exoskeleton idea, did they stay with the 3 mm stainless steel or use a thinner gauge?
+1

I’m definitely wondering this myself.🤷‍♂️
