FSD was dog shit on my Y (Jan 2024). After 11 months of hell, it turned out to be the cover for the IR lights was too thick.

Service didn't catch it - just gaslit me. After the more recent update, I took videos of it going bonkers. They replaced the camera and that didn't work. Finally a sharper tech looked at service bulletins and found the lens cover issue.

FSD can't do glare.
FSD can't do snow - on grown or when snowing heavily.
FSD can't do icy on roads - especially black colored ice.
FSD gets speed from signs only. That doesn't work in many situations.
FSD can't do heavy rain.
FSD can't do salted or dirty roads - cameras get covered in a few minutes.
FSD can't drive along roads next to highways because it reads highway speed signs.

This is a known problem and Tesla service team fixed it for me on one of the services I had. The inside is dirty - that is why.

I was getting disengagements nearly every single commute. I noticed the glass in the camera housing was pretty darn hazy. this is after a service tech "precision" cleaned it maybe 6-9 months ago already (complimentary and bundled with some other service I had done, can't quite remember which it was).

I put in a service ticket. They quoted me 100 something bucks. The mobile tech cleaned it and I have literally not had a single disengagement since--with no change in driving habits or time of day. after service they asked me over messages if I had it done before and I said yeah, it's on the old invoices, and clearly the problem came back. they wrote off the entire charge this time.

I still think it's the off gassing of the VOCs and deposits on the inner windshield in the housing. I mentioned the same to the tech, and he said it was curing of the glass--which I thought was much less likely. unless he actually meant adhesives curing and off gassing, which I guess would be reasonable.

They should make the little section of glass in front of the camera photosensitive like those glasses that darken when you go out in the sun.

why isn't the space in front of the camera sealed?

the red hands from sun glare happens on all of my Teslas. Hoping they can improve it on V14.

I had really bad outgassing film on inside of windshield. I had service done recently, they were going to charge me $100 to clean it. So, I declined to do it. I was getting dry wipes frequently. I cleaned & rain-x'd it. And the dry wipes dramatically reduced. Maybe once every 3rd trip. But I do see it have issues like the OP on occasion. Sounds like I'll need to clean mine sometime.
