Cooler for Under Bed

Would be really cool (pun intended) if somebody made a molded insulated cooler that fit perfectly in the under-bed compartment. I get that it’s drainable but with no insulation any ice that I put in there would melt pretty fast. Would be pretty awesome to be able to store cold drinks there for several days with ice. That way I don’t need to use up valuable truck bed space with my cooler

Actually with the tailgate being fixed at 90* opening and no ramp, using that space for most people will mean climbing up into the bed for another cerveza. If you want convenience and not to deal with rapidly depleting ice, a fridge is what you want. If you’re concerned about utility a fridge on a tracked slider is what you want.

I will buy it... the space looks pretty big, hopefully, the fridges come in different sizes,

Power would have been nice. Just have to wait for a YouTube video, and find a good auto electrician.

There are already companies that make customized Tesla fridge and no double there will be one for the CT. I have a 6 seater Model X and put a fridge between the 2nd row seats accessible when driving, as a table for lunch, as a footrest when solo camping.

I think I'd be more interested in a cooler in the frunk. Between what @SolarWizard said about ease of reaching in over the tailgate and the fact that the back 1/3 of your bed would have to be empty to access it (or a lot of shuffling around), I don't think it'll end up being good for that.

It will be good for storing my blender though so I can whip up some fresh margs right after unloading and setting up camp

Given all that space between the rear underbed storage and the nappy, I think it would easy to add insulation to the outside of the storage instead, and possibly also a fridge compressor as well to keep it cool. There's even some space back there for a water tank.

Still a shame about that spare spot.

I would potentially be interested in buying a refrigerated cooler that filled most or all of the frunk, especially if it were removable. No outlet in the frunk, I was sad to see that as well.

This is the same type of power lead that is near the roof apex for powering eg the lightbar.


This power lead and its location is visible on the UI, but not yet enabled in the UI, and it's unclear what exactly Tesla has planned for it.

well, I more broadly think it's a lead for any sort of front bumper mounted kit that people like to put on the front of trucks. including a which, but also more lights, etc.

meanwhile, it's location will also allow for various sorts of frunk-stored item.

so far, I can only think that tesla will soon offer both:

(1) an ability to turn this into a frunk-mounted 120v outlet, or

(2) an ability to extend this to the front, under the frunk tub, for connecting any forward-mounted accessories

Of all the places for a fridge, I think the wasted space on the floor in front of the center console would be the best spot for it. Easy to access whilst you drive.

The frunk one would be larger, but probably a bit too big.

I still can't come up with anything really practical to take with in the under bed storage due to its limited access with something in the bed, except for off-road recovery gear and tools. Doubly so if you are trying to use the bed as a camper setup.

I'm also wondering if that roof apex and frunk outlet is limited to 48V? At 2.3kW it probably won't be 12V and there are no 110V light bars or winches?

Maybe Tesla only 48V accessories for now for those two?

(Edit: according to the Leno video these are indeed 2x 48V pre-wired outlets that can switched from the main screen)
