I don't know what panel trim usually costs Tesla but if we knew how much the panels cost Tesla (probably similar price as the MX but not the retail price), we could extrapolate how many Cybertrucks Tesla is planning on producing in the next 5 years.

When Tesla breaks out the cost per item on a contract, the fees are included, right? I mean, if Tesla breaks down the cost of production so ensure they make a profit, they'd include any setup costs, wouldn't they? If it were their own equipment, they may amortize it over 20 years or whatever but since this is a limited contract, they'd bake the cost of setup into those 5 years of production of the pillar trim.

Spoiler Alert; I've got a friend who knows the guy who is contracting for the tire valve stem caps for the CT. They are special order because they are bullet proof and marine grade. That's all I can say at this juncture but boy is this exciting news.

When you subcontract to another company source one needs to ensure compliance in all aspects is adhered. If you haven't worked in a Manufacturing environment you wouldn't know this.

I have worked in manufacturing. My point was that the parts will meet spec or that supplier won't be a supplier for long. Tesla de-risks their business by having multiple suppliers for the same part. This is not the kind of thing that keeps the end users awake at night. The quality is determined by the automaker, not the supplier.

No, actually Tesla needs to roll the contract amount into all trucks produced over 5 years that use those parts (not each truck). This is actually one more indication Tesla plans to build huge volumes of the Cybertruck.

Your comment shows a lack of understanding of automaking or perhaps it's simply an amateur attempt at making potential Cybertruck purchasers think this bit of news means Cybertruck will unaffordable.

Millions of dollars are inconsequential when spread over the production of millions of Cybertrucks.
