Totally speculative but ... any guesses on whether Tesla will announce CT fleet launch customers (like they did with Semi)? If CT is going to get quick street cred, it would make sense to have a few big fleets like Centerpoint Energy / PG&E and perhaps a Penske or Barco plus as part of the launch. Even better, would be to also add a large police department (how awesome would it be to announce Texas State Troopers will be driving CyberTrucks?). It would certainly be a definitive answer to Jim Farley's "I make work trucks" comment.

What say you, fellow prognosticators of all things CT? Do we get announcements of a fleet customer launch on the final reveal day?

With its consumer vehicles Tesla has treated fleets as regular buyers. The Cybertruck is intended as a normal driver, recreation vehicle, and work truck, so it straddles categories. Who knows. Probably with as many reservations as there are there are some fleets in there but I would not expect Tesla to push fleets to the front of the line.

The Semi needs a charging network to evolve along with its production scale.

Commercial partners can partner in setting up the charging network, which suits their route. This would be the optimal use of the truck supported by an appropriate charge rate.

Besides, the production rate is slow, even if a slow home charge will somehow do a private user, there would have to be a lottery to get one.

CT will scale quickly, and imo will be 'affordably' priced for the consumer market, and can charge using the existing network without compromise.

Does Tesla have a fleet BU yet?

I understand they could sell vehicle units to fleet buyers, but do they have the sort of fleet ecosystem BU that the eg Centerpoints of the world expect?

I expect Tesla to eventually, but wasn’t aware they do yet

Fleet should not be announced before Tesla has delivered the 1.5 million orders placed by private citizens. You can't compare the CT with the Semi. The CT can be driven by private citizens as an everyday vehicle and Semi's will not be. If Tesla was to provide CT's to fleet before they are delivered to private citizens the wait will be ongoing for probably 6-7 years which is extremely unfair considering the support for the CT is mostly coming from private drivers/order placers. Besides, I don't see too many companies lining up to buy the Semi's and most fleet companies signs contracts with Ford or GM etc etc. They won't sign contracts with Tesla for CT's until CT's have a proven reputation on the streets that is superior to other truck brands and models on the streets.

Tesla won’t have enough CyberTrucks to go around as it is.

so, no i don’t see it.

I don't think the CT is in line for fleets.

They've historically told rental companies and anyone interested to just put in a bulk order. Aside from the semi that is.

Although with the amounts of CT's they'll be pumping out they're probably enough CTs to go around for fleet sales.

I agree that deliveries should be a first come first serve (according to specs ordered), however I would like to see the CT brought into mining, we are always looking for solid, reliable, sustainable, and especially reduced or no emissions in the underground environment. It would be interesting to see what specs would be required with the CT to get it underground…

No [i hope not].

And unless you are an investor, why would you want / be excited for this? Lots of departments are using Teslas already, having to retrofit them themselves.. This is the way

Being both, my interest as a consumer way outweighs my measly stock position..

a true fleet ecosystem is a cash cow

simply selling vehicle units that happen to be used in “fleet,” is not

Yeah, more or less this.

Cybertruck will be in many fleets. But Tesla doesn’t need to court them any time soon. I’ve already heard about some companies that have 10+ reservations for their internal use. I’m sure there are more out there.

I heard somewhere (urban myth?) that there is someone with 200 reservations.

Me, I just want to see a BIW come off the line, or 1 full truck, from GigaAustin, and then I can set my next milestone :)

IMO Tesla won't establish a true fleet motion until its no longer supply capped. Why spend capital and cause org headaches elsewhere to sell vehicles you can't make anyway at a lower margin? Tesla already has delivery headaches, the last thing they need is fleet-sized delivery headaches.

But once we see some demand drop that doesn't immediately respond to small price incentives, I bet we'll see a fleet BU. Prediction: 2025/2026, starting with whatever they have excess capacity on (maybe MY and CT).

If the light commercial van rumor is true, that might also be the impetus for fleet sales.
